Now that I think about it...yeah...just our Captain is different. I mean he acts different regarding how he lets crew members talk to him. (and punch him in the mouth in Simon's case) But he is the same in regards to his love for his ship and crew, and his disdain for the Allaince and fear of the Reavers

I wish i could. I can give you a very general accounht of the story. But I have tried myself to think back from beginning to end and I cant do it. I wish i could but my memory tends to be sporadic..lol.

Lets see, the story revolves around River. The Operatives after her, and it answers why they want her back. The crews quest of finding that out winds up accedentally taking them to the Reaver home world. A world were they were accidentally created by the inhabitants. See the population was trying to be controlled by an airborn additive (or pill cant remember) and it went very wrong. It was supposed to supress violent impulses, and instead it either made people so non-caring they simply died where they sat, or the complete opposite were they became...well Reavers.

It is a complicated story where the Allaince and the Reavers are after them. But they visit and pick up Inara and visit Book before and after the Reavers attack which killed him. Ultimately they are able to use this under-ground type of guy to transmit proof that the Reavers exist and make piece with The Allaince. If I remember correctly the Operative tells the Allaince army not to kill River (who was cornered)dont remember exactly how...but if memory serves the Allaince is no longer after River. All kinda foggy which bugs me. I guess I'll have to watch it again in September..lol

Thanks for the Q & A session. The pure spoiler junkie in me has to know -- how exactly (to the best of your knowledge) do Book and Wash die?

And it may be out of character for Mal, but I like the idea of Simon getting some "punching" revenge.

Do you remember why Inara came back on board Serenity after she left? You say they "picked" Inara up, but they must have a lot of reason for her to come back right?

One, I can see, but both of 'em?

Too many questions arise... I'm gonna make like it's not true.

When Serenity chrashes down on the planet where the Communications guy is, a long wooden pole breaks off from the building they crashed into and impales Wash right through his chest in the pilot chair. You would'nt of seen it coming. And because they were running for there lives they had one second to mourn him and then they were off and running.

Book's little town he lived in was hit by the Allaince when they were following Rivers trail. Book shot down a ship and he was lying in the dirt dying when Mal found him. I thought that Simon would save him somehow, but while Simon was getting his medical suppies he dies in Mals arms.

They went to go visit Inara for some information/help she could give them. Dont remember exactly, but the Operative shows up while they are there. During the fight with him. she saves Mals ass and they flee to the ship. She kinda had to go, but at the end she tells Mal that she will be staying and he replies something like "good answer" or something close.

Nathan mentioned in an interview that Mal was given a "love interest". Would that be Inara? Is the UST still there?

Well, I guess even if Book's dead I still think Joss can find a creative and original way to tell Book's past though (maybe a flashback, or something else)
Meltingman, were there any inside jokes for the Firefly fans in the movie? And do we see Zoe dealing with the death of Wash in the movie?

Yep the love interest is Inara. The fire still burns there. In a scene in the movie, Mal is in his room on the ship and he is holding a video recorded clip of her when she was on board and he was missing her.

Not sure what UST stands for?

For Books death there was no flashback or anything unvieling his past. In the first meeting with Book at his new town/village, Mal and Book were talking about River and being chased and Book was sharing all kinds of information on what the Allaince might do. Mal says "one of these days you need to tell me how you know this kind of stuff" and Book simply replies "no...I dont!"

Then later in the movie he dies...Even when he was giving up his last breath he didnt say.

A big part of me hopes that Joss is simply playing a joke on all of us. That he has signed all the cast members to a three movie deal, and he wants to thow us off the spoiler path. I can hope.

Inside jokes...im sure there were but none I can remember...sorry

For Wash and Book the creww buried them on top of a hill and that is were all the remaining cast members had a chance to finally mourn.

Cool, I like scared Jayne :-)
- If you would rate this movie (scale of 1-10) what would you give it?
- What was your absolute favourite scene of the movie? (and could you please describe it?)
- How much of the movie is going to be cgi?
- You said they were going on a heist, how is that gonna go? (Is it gonna go like with the lassiter in Trash or very different?) And do they succeed?

thanks again :-)

I would rate this movie probably an 8. It will go higher if they delete/change the "Oh come on" scenes.

My favorite scene is easy, it is the bar scene with River. The crew go there to meet some bad guys and River walks up to a TV showing some Anime cartoons. In the cartoons there is embedded a message which triggers Rivers training. She starts beating some ass in there. What makes this scene great is the flow of the fight scene. There is no, film this guy getting punched, ok now this guy gets kicked, ok now cut to this guy getting karate chopped. you can tell it is 10 minutes of straight fighting. In addition, Mal realizes whats happening and he will be next. So he runs to the locker where everybodies weapons are locked up. He is trying to get his weapon and she is just about ready to get to him. This is when Simon shuts her down with the key word. Awesome...

The special effects were missing, except for one glorious scene.l This is a very cool scene when Simon breaks River out of the Allaince facilty. he poses as a high ranking official with the Allaince and he is carrying a walking cane of some sort. So when the timing is right, he drops to one knee while slamming the bottom of the cane on the floor. When this happens a burst of energy expands from the cane tip immobilizing anybody it reaches. Because Simon is below the enery level from the cane (he was kneeling) he was safe. Cool sound effect and cool special effect. All other scenes you could see the wires and occasionally a sign which read "space battle"..pretty funny.

The hiest is in the beginning when they rob a bank in the town of Lilac. While they are robbing it the town gets hit by Reavers. This is when they need to make a quick get away. Didnt go well, they only got a little bit of money from the vault.

For the life of me i cant remember. What i do remember is that I was shocked when it happened. They were all standing in the common area around the dinner table. And that Mal just kinda held his jaw, while Jayne stood between them. They were just kinda arguing and Simon suddenly cold cocked him. i thought oh man mal is gonna make him pay for that....and then nothing?

Looking at all the spoilers, I still think the movie will be a little different than what people saw. They know what an organized fan group they have, and that word will get out from previews. To truly give us an enjoyable experience, and I truly believe Joss is for his fans, we will have surprises, hopefully happy ones. I can see Book being written out simply because it seems Ron is a busy dude. Wash, there is too much he can still do, and they will continue to need a crack pilot. JMHO.

I'm adding my thanks, too, MeltingMan. You've provided a great deal of insight that is usually missing from the reviews (generally of the "Rah! Rah! Rah!" variety, not that there's anything wrong with that!), and some great descriptions.

I fully expect there to be some changes when Sept. 30 rolls around (and Middle Son just got a job at the local MegaPlex, so we'll be going for free! If he still works there by then! Rah!), but I love knowing stuff beforehand, it makes me feel....special. Heh.

....And what I wouldn't have given when I was 11 to have been spoiled for Star Wars....such a coup over my friends....ya know?

The hubbert is going non-spoiled....well, mostly, anyway. So I feel I'm one step ahead of him, where he's usually been three ahead of me up till now.

Anyway. Thank you!

Can I just say:

Before the screening in London we were ASKED SPECIFICALLY NOT TO POST SPOILERS ON THE INTERNET.

Seriously, what do you think it's gonna do to the chances of us having a similar opportunity if there's a sequel (or what it's gonna do to the chances of fans being allowed as extras, for that matter) if people are posting this much detail?!

This would be a "think before you type" moment, people.

Uh, you can when the room of excited fans agrees not to. If you watched the movie under the pretense of not posting spoilers, and then post spoilers, you've lied. You lied to Joss and you lied to Chris.

Seriously, I agree with JadeThe2nd - because people are posting this information, they will likely not trust us to keep our mouths shut for future movies. Personally, I think that they ought to have NDA's for these things, and then actively pursue people who post. It's really a shame...

Yes, I know - I read the spoilers. But I honestly couldn't dishonor Joss by lying to him if I was in that position...

As always, no offense intended to those who are posting spoilers. You have the right to do whatever you want.

Just as we have the right to disagree.

There were nearly 200 Browncoats at the London screening, and probably similar numbers at the 2 American screenings.

Say 500 Browncoats have seen it, and ONE is posting spoilers.

0.2% of the audience could prevent 98.8% ever being invited to something similar.

That seem right to you?

Well I must say I'm dissapointed with the few who read all the spoilers, and then post that i shouldnt have shared? Actually kinda makes me laugh.

In my defense (because i guess I need to) there was no request not to post spoilers on the internet. We were asked for no video or photography. If anything i bet they put out a 75% finished story, and then let fans see it and lurk here for our ideas.

With that said...I'm done. I have shared the bulk of what I can remember. But I will leave one last spoiler for those who dont want to know (but your reading this you putz..lol) River will be the crack pilot replacing Wash. At the end, she sits down and takes the controls from Mal...HA

I read this thread because I was at the London screening, and therefor, for me, it is NOT spoilers.

And I'd like to comment that people shouldn't take everything that Meltingman has said as entirely accurate.
Perhaps it's down to different interpretations of what we saw, or that I have seen it more recently, or perhaps we even saw different versions - the cgi and sfx were nearly complete in the version I saw.

But if I were to answer some of the questions that have been asked here, I would have answered them very differently.

But, as we in London WERE specifically asked not to post spoilers, I'm not going to.

Well said, I read these comments on spoilers before with a pinch of salt, but when it came down to the watching the `unfinished film` at the London screening, there are certain truths but also there are other things here which were not seen.

In Spetmeber(U.S) & November(U.K.) I guess we will see what actually does make it to the final cut. There`s a long time to go and additional scenes could still be filmed and mixed about.

I agree with Ruthie, and just remember that until the final cut nothing is for certain.

I said bye..twice, yet here I am. lol
I've just got to say this. I have been recruiting fans for the FF series thru the dvds and have been fairly successful. Oh, they enjoyed the series very much, but none as fanatically as I have. Interest seemed to be waning somewhat and I have been feeding tidbits about the movie as much as I can, and Meltingman answering questions here have helped much. I do let them know that there seem to be slightly different versions and the actual movie itself may turn out differently...or not. Interest has picked up again. I am even trying to get my friends and family to think about going to Australia with me to see the movie. Granted, just us alone isn't going to make a big difference. It's going to be a very expensive movie ticket for each of us.
I feel so bad that Meltingman (clearly having no ill intent)has been 'attacked' for his part here. :(

I think you`ve got it wrong! It`s not about reading spoilers but getting the right information if that`s what you want - what`s been said here is that some things said here are not what was seen (in the UK). What has been said is not to believe everything you hear here, the thing with spoilers is to get the facts straight - If I said "Reavers look like people in big teddy bear outfits on screen" how would you know (apart from it being far fetched) that it isn`t so?

So again I say to take everything you read here with a pinch of salt until things can be confirmed by other sources.

Here's my tidbits of independent confirmation:

1) We know there's a hovercraft chase scene - in the Comic Con trailer, there was one shown briefly.

2) The behind-the-scenes photos I released(which ended up in SFX Magazine, by the way) included university-campus-looking place where there were decomposed bodies just LYING ON THE GROUND like they'd...hmmm...lost the will to live and just lay down to die. Not reaverized, just collapsed. Sounds like the Reaver homeworld Meltingman described.

3) I've gotten a private email response with a person highly involved in the film who indicated that FTL/not-FTL indeed is left nebulous, likely on purpose.

That's it for me. I hope Wash and Book don't die!

In theory to make it practical to travel to he stars space craft must travel FTL as the distances are so large.

There is still the open question on how the people in the Firefly Universe actually got to where they are today with speculation on FTL travel or some other means (wormhole/stargate/portal etc.)- but nothing has been mentioed or seen for certain
