"Let me do the math here..." but I don't think anything was ever said in Firefly beyond the word "system". They also said stuff like "core worlds" and "out on the ring" but I don't think galactic. It would seem that the Firefly "universe" was a really large solar system or a star cluster (cluster of systems).
