I'm looking for some good advice on where to stay in Hot-lanta for DragonCon. I've never been and I want to stay somewhere fairly nice and close to the con.

Anyone have some advice for a DragonCon newbie?

Julia

The two main hotels that the con is in(Hyatt and the Mariott Marques (sp?)) are where most of the people stay, but their are hotels all over within walking distance. The Hyatt is the party hotel, unless you stay on the 10th floor of the Marriott, it seems to be a party floor as well.

The best thing to do is get a group of your friends together and share a room. Last year was my first year going and their was seven of us in a room. In the Mariott the rooms fill up quick.

I had the good fortune of riding on the elevator multipule times with Mal :) because he was staying on the same floor I was.

Keep shiny!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

My wife and I go to Dragon Con every year and have for the past 8 years. We always stay in the Hyatt as it is the host hotel. It is the party hotel, but the great thing is that you can easily walk to all of the events, places to eat, shops in the underground mall, and the Mariott via the enclosed walkways. Keeps you out of the heat and weather and makes for an easier time of things.

The Mariott is the overflow hotel and also hosts the dealer room, art exhibits, and exhibition hall. It is a quieter hotel, but we really like the Hyatt better. We stay in the International Tower of the Hyatt which is much quieter than the main part of the Hyatt, but still close enough to everything that is going on. We have found that works best for us.
