I found this on Jane Espenson's site:

Finding Serenity : Anti-Heroes, Lost Shepherds and Space Hookers in Joss Whedon's Firefly will be released by Benbella Books on April 1, 2005. Edited by Jane Espenson and Glenn Yeffeth and including contributions by Jewel Staite, Joy Davidson and Mercedes Lackey, this collection of essays digs into the depths of the sadly short-lived television series Firefly.

Coolies. No, I hadn't heard this before, but my B-Day is March 31st, so I can see that as being 1 present I'll ask for.

Are there other books coming out as well?! Hoorah! I've seen the novelisation but that's it...

If done properly, I think Firefly could translate to a novel form quite well.

well, in addition to the above, the books I've heard about are:
by Joss Whedon (script? Making of the movie?)

and
Serenity by Keith R.A. DeCandido

which I believe is a novelization

plus comics which are supposed to cover the period after 'Firefly' was canceled and before the movie 'Serenity'

Oooooo Shiny! Hadn't heard about that top one before.

Normally I'm not a fan of comics but well, here, I might have to make an exception...
