So. . .the NCBDMPP. . .

Recently spoke with the distribution guy at 'Versal and he told me that because of the push-back to Sept 30th, there's not distribution stuff happening just yet. BUT, he was reasonably confident that it would be 'no sweat' to get the movie sent to one of the theatres owned by Ambassador Entertainment, which is my friend's company.

Now.

Ambassador is all manner of excited about the NCBDMPP, and their general attitude is "You guys pick the theatre and we'll show the flick!"

After much consideration, I'm all but convinced to go with Mission Valley, a multiplex cinema with eight screens.

While it would be downright poetical to have the NCBDMPP at the Rialto, which is a classic "Movie Palace" style theatre from the 1950's. . .with a huge screen, single theatre, stage, alcohol served, etc etc etc. . . there are a few problems with it.
- The lobby is a bit smallish
- The parking is virtually nonexistent (street parking only).
- The Theatre does almost exclusively independant films, so not much advertising.

Mission Valley, however is in a shopping center, so plenty of parking. . .it shows mainstream movies. . .the lobby is bigger . . .and we'll have the benefit of carrying on our foolishness in the presence of audience members for other films, which means we'll catch more attention for our film(if we can't get 'em on the opening weekend, we'll get 'em the next weekend).

Any thoughts?

----ADDENDUM----

Oh yeah. . .I forgot to mention. . .

October 1st is opening day of the Carolina Renaissance Festival. TheGreyJedi, Lilianna and I are members of the cast. . .so we're going to be wrapping up the party and driving down to Charlotte that night to grab a few hours of sleep before the thing kicks off the next morning. So if you folk are so inclined, you can caravan down that way with us and come to a big mead-swilling, turkey-leg munching joust party!!!

I'm all in.
I've got friends in the area I could likely bunk with. I gave them a set for christmas, by the new years party they had seen every second on all the disks and loved it. They then loaned it to her parents and reports are they love it and look forward to the film as well. I'll bring a crowd.
Multiple showings? Multiple screens? I'm hoping to see it at leaset 10 times opening weekend.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Though the Rialto would be a more elegant atmosphere, I think Mission Valley is the best bet for convience. Parking would definitely be a concern, and the added benefit of Mission Valley being a high profile venue will allow us to raise awareness about Serenity and the series. Perhaps our shindig will generate some interest and get some more tickets sold.

I'm in, as is my wife. We may have two or three others coming w/ us. That will depend on timing, schedules, etc.

MAI

Static, thanks so much for the update. I most definetly want to be there. Is everyone going to try to stay in the same place? Best place to stay? Some sort of meet up before the BDM actually starts that night? Costumes? And one last question, who has the time travel device?
205 days! I just can't take it.

excellent question!

There needs to be a Browncoat floor of a hotel. And we should meet up beforehand for lunch or something. Get all worked up and such. Costumes, you're kidding right. Of course there'll be costumes!

The time machine, alas, I have some bad news on that. My dad is having trouble with the sync trigger. He hopes to have it done soon. He figures his future self must have finished it by now and will come back to help him. Though I think that offends some time laws.

As soon as it's ready, I'll call ya.

Thats me, right? We're talking about me? *grin*

I just asked my mom (again) and she's like, "Yeah. We talked about this before, remember? I'd be fun if we could all go."

ALL GO! Nonnonononono mother dearest, you stay home. PLEASE you stay home. Do you have any idea how much fun I wouldn't be having if i had to worry about you watching me the whole time? Blech. No no, you and dad can stay home, thank you very much.

I'll be there though. Its looking REALY good for me and, um, myself being there.

Hey Static, who do i have to bat my eyes at to join the cast at the Ren Fair?
