I'm sure that this has been asked a thousand times before, but new data is always being uncovered, so I figued I'd ask for the thousandth-and-first time. I've heard that if Serenity performs well enough, a sequel is considered. Is a sequel series, or Firefly Season 2, a possible outcome of a good theater showing for Serenity? Has anyone in the know commented, positively or negatively, on this possibility?

As a contractual agreement, all of the cast and Joss are committed for up to three movies at Universal's discretion. So if the first movie does well financially, there may be two additional movies made. There is no talk of a return to TV anywhere, and Joss has implied pretty strongly that he expects to stay in movies.

That's a shame. Firefly's plot and development would be better served in serial format. Movies don't permit nearly the degree of character development and variety of situations that a regularly aired series does.

Agreed, but as Hasufel pointed out Joss has said that he does not want to return to television, so it would appear the movies are all we will get. As much as I like to hold out hope of a return to the small screen, it looks grim.
