I'm new here and I hope I'm not repeating something that has been asked before, but I know that these threads have attracted people "in the know" about Firefly, so I have to mention/ask...

Considering that Firefly is "over" (sigh)...
is there any way that Joss (or Tim or whomever) would reveal some of the secrets of the plots to us? That is... since the show will not continue, we are never going to know why Book "is no Shepherd" and so on. I would dearly love to know if someone "in the know" would be able to tell us what were the plans for the show or the secrets that now will no longer be told...

I hate not knowing the ending to something...

I believe Joss will tell the story of Firefly. I am not in the know, but I do have faith in Joss. He has a story to tell and it is not done. What form that story will be presented in I do not know. Until Joss says it is over , it is not over. The series is over but not the story. Many here still have hope of a miracle and having the series re-appear.

Well, it's not quite the same, but it will do if it has too... a Firefly comic series.

Why a comic? Good question...
1)Joss has written comic before, most recently a mini-series called Fray. It has recieved much aclaim and success. This would allow Joss to be personally involved in the stories, whereas a novel most likely wouldn not be written by him

2) Again, Joss is just finishing up a comic mini- for Dark Horse that did well for them, so he has a good working relationship with a major comic publisher

3) It would allow for the story to be finished/continued, and is a realistic goal, comics have MUCH lower sale expectations, and the FF community could easily support the numbers they are looking for

4) Buffy and (i think) Angel both have comic series associated with them, and it hasn't done either of them any harm

Also, even if you don't think you'd read a comic, consider this... Having a comic won't HURT any chances of a FF movie or series return, most likely it would help (think Batman, XMen, Spawn, Daredevil, etc.). Also, you would probably be likely to at least check it out (whats $3 for the first issue?) and you MIGHT like it, who knows. Lastly, theres those of us who would like it, so do us a favor and support the effort to get FF into a comic!

Anyone turning up their nose to comic books nowadays is missing out on some fine contemporary literature.

I agree 100%: Firefly would make an excellent comic book! Certainly it would be no substitute for the show, particularly in the area of enjoying the acting chemistry... but allowing the stories to continue would be a boon in our Firefly-free present.

Some of the best stories being written in our era are coming from comic book writers and there's no reason why a Firefly comic could not be counted in the upper echelon of the medium.

My personal favorite comic writers are Alan Moore, Frank Miller and Mike Mignola (off the top of my head... there are many others and some of them also illustrate their projects themselves). Joss Whedon's Dark Horse work is fantastic and I'm looking forward to the day when he is as prolific a writer in the comic medium as Moore, Mignola or Miller.

FYI: Whedon's Angel miniseries has been collected into a single trade paperback edition as Fray will be someday soon (Fray has not yet finished its initial run).

Let me just add that Fray #7 and #8 is coming in April and May. So a TPB will likely be out later in the year, possibly during Fall.
