...concerning my account on this board (sorry if anyone feels I tricked them onto this thread - feel free to stick around, though).

I joined this board July 5, 2004. My wife is currently pregnant, and she's due early this July. Outside chance my first child could be born one year to the day my first post landed on this board. Guess I get to be thankful Serenity got pushed back to September - not that my son will understand what's going on, but at least he'll be here when the BDM is released.

Anybody willing to fix up a 0-3 month Browncoat outfit for him? Imagine how cute that would be.

Handsome. Didn't mean cute.

Edit: Just found another connection to my life and the flick - realized my son's initials will be BDM. That wasn't planned. Gettin' creepy.

More importantly, how's he gonna get christened 'Big' with the middle name 'Damn'?

Actually, when I realized that the initials were BDM, I asked my wife if we could change his name to Big Damn. A little chuckle, followed, predictably, by, "No."

I'm callin' him that anyway.

outfit for an infant = adorable
bringing a baby that young to a movie = crazy

But on second thought...since you are planning ahead
get a nice white cotton onesie (very nice t-shirt that snaps between the legs helping to keep the diaper in place)
and put an iron-on image of BLUE SUN on it!

edited again to add:
maybe we should have a baby shower...
someone could make a little bitty orange knit hat

Seeing as how I'm going to have a perfect child who will respond directly to my every command from the moment he is born, I see no problem with taking him to the movie.

Gotta get him cultured. He'll be fed a steady diet of Firefly and The Dukes of Hazzard upon his arrival.

My stone-cold lock prediction: If you seriously take that young an infant to the Serenity premiere, you're gonna get a closeup, real-life view of Reavers (i.e., your fellow Browncoat moviegoers). Unless you're planning on 'feeding him a steady diet' of Mudder's Milk, too, instead of original equipment leche...

Babies are adorable outside the theatre; once inside, the parents are guaranteed to wind up in the special hell.

P.S.
Think 'babysitter' (a.k.a., "Grandma"). He can always vegetate on the DVD when it comes out next Valentine's Day.

I guess I don't post often enough for my sarcastic nature to be truly realized by everyone. No way would I take my three month old baby into a movie. I'm usually first in line to smack the moms and dads that bring any kind younger than 13 with them or allow any pack of adolescents of any age to go alone. I'm a mean old man.

Plus, I have no intention of turning from the screen from lights-down to end of end credits. Three month olds need more attention than that, as I understand it.

Big Damn will be home watching 'toons that night, no doubt.

SteveTP,

Don't you pay no nevermind to Zoid. He was countering your sarcasm with his own brand of..."humor?"...and raising it to the 11th degree.

That's our Zoid: He be's what he be's and all the culturin' and learnin' the DOH can reap upon 'im ain't a gonna fix 'im. He's just plum rascally.

Mal-licious

I think I will add cursing and the hurling about of things to my repertoire.

He raises a valid point, though. Book could just as easily have said "people who bring babies to the theater."

And a BIG for you and your missus and your little one on the way!

Yeah! A baby that gets strolled down the street in that hat? People know he's not afraid of anything! Can I get a "Damn straight!"?

...And a little 'Fighting Elves' t-shirt, not the BlueSun one, ('coz you wouldn't want psychic baby girl assassins slicin' and dicin' him), tiny little Mule work mittens, and combat booties.

And of course, the signature goggles... (and an oversized, full diaper.)

Z, I can never trust that my wife won't try to poison me with a kiss - can't be too careful.

Edit: Per Z's request - Damn straight.

Again: Better ways to go out? Anybody up for cancer? Or a bus while crossing the road? Kill me with a kiss, please. (In fact, I double-dog dare TiPpY to try.)

Anticipating at least one reply: Old age!? I'd rather 'catch the bus'. I wanna go while the lights are still on and there's still somebody home...
