Hey Browncoats!

(cross-posted at the Serenity Movie board)

I just heard about this project yesterday, and I think it is completely AWESOME!

http://www.goingpostal3000.com

This couple, Kyle and Dominique (Montreal, Canada), are going to the Galapagos Islands.

There is a mail barrel there, and tradition is that people coming to the island rifle through the barrel to pick up any relevant mail to
take back to where they're heading (ie: if the visitor is from Australia, the visitor may retrieve mail destined for Australia). The letter is then hand-delivered by the Galapagos visitor.

Like throwing a message into a bottle into the ocean, this technique may take YEARS to return back to you (or arrive at the destination
you're sending to).

This morning the kids and I put together postcards for:
- grandma
- godparents
- their elementary school
- etc.

Since Kyle and Dominique are heading out early next week, we are sending our package via overnight courier to be included in this
project (they hope that future projects will also exist).

So ... anyone interested, jump to it!  BTW ... we couldn't find ANY postcards here that weren't horrifically expensive, so we hit the local Dollar Store and picked up a handful of "Art Cards" (beautiful Canadian aboriginal artwork), cut off the back page, and turned them into slightly oversized postcards.

There is NO postage required on the cards themselves as they will be picked up and delivered on the honour system from the Galapagos.

Hope to hear some other folks decided to give it a go!  Pretty neat, I think.

Cheers,
Annik
