Here it is. Most nights I watch a show or movie before I hit the bunk. Lately it's been like this:
I pop in Robocop and get through about twenty-five minutes of it when a voice in my head says, quite distinctly "...you'd be enjoying Ariel a whole lot more right about now..." So I take out Robo and pop in disk 3.
Or the other night where I was watching Westworld, and the same voice came back, "...if you're gonna watch something western, Objects in Space would be more fun..." So I take out Westworld and pop in disk 4.
I can't seem to get through much of somethin'in the way of what ain't Firefly without that voice intruding and gettin' me to make a switch!
Does anyone else have this problem?
And who's voice is that, anyway (don't sound like me, is it somethin' in the dvd's that gets planted into your subconcious to direct your viewing habits, or is it Malicious usin' her reader-projection powers on me)?

Help!

Can't watch his other favourite stuff no more Chrisisall

I keep trying to watch Buffy and Angel at the moment but end up watching FF instead. The only Buffy episode I have managed to watch lately was OMWF and that was only so I could sing along.

I am even having problems with Babylon 5. I am converting my other half to B5 (still trying with FF but he doesn't like it - insanity) and every time I think of suggesting the next episode my mouth actually says 'why don't you play your guitar its been at least a day and I want to watch FF'.

Something very wrong with the world

I really should get me a signature

Ah, Westworld...fun.

yeah, pretty much. Sometimes, when I am at someone’s house watching whatever it is that they watch, I play one of the episodes in my head. No one seems concerned that I laugh at the wrong time or gasp or whatever...they just think I'm being weird again.

thatweirdgirl, I play eps in my head, too, mostly at work. I say,"Huh?, What?" a lot 'cause people interupt during the really good parts.

What it is, is this ...

The Creators of the Firefly DVD`s created them with in-built subliminal messaging on the DVD startup screens. If you go freeze frame and then step by step, you will find that the hidden messages ...

"You will buy at least 2 sets of this DVD"

"You will lend one set of DVDs to others"

"You must watch an episode of Firefly everyday otherwise the bad people will come"

"Joss Whedon is God"

"Selling your DVD set is Bad, real Bad, you will go to a special Hell if you sell you DVD set"

Those are the ones I`ve picked up on, I get so far and then I just have to watch an episode of Firefly

America loves a winner!

I went through a similar stage my own self. Only it got to be the ONLY thing I'd watch, and since I got cable and hooked up my XBoxLive, I forced myself to take the DVD out of the player. It hasn't gone far, as it still sits right NEXT to the player.

I do still hear and see things in FF point of view. Do I really need to elaborate? Naww, didn't think so , not here.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

Wow, when I started this thread I thought maybe nobody'd respond, as I personally don't know any other Browncoats on a face to face basis, and I thought it a mite peculiar to obsess on on series to a point such as this.
Sure am relieved to find I ain't the only one two steps from a looney bin.

Now, I'm gonna make tonight a no- Firefly night.
Yeah, and maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot.

Yeah,
You're definitely not alone here. I think it may be the voice of Joss. No matter how many times I've seen these eps, anytime I'm watching someting that isn't good, I think "I could be watching Firefly instead." Of course the same thing happens to me with music. I hear the crap that passes for music on the radio, and think, "I'd rather be listening to Marillion."
Never settle for less.

GTHING

If we only had a couple of seasons of Firefly on our hands, I think this Browncoat would be in the same boat. Instead, I generalize this difficulty with any Joss Whedon show. Like I try to keep trying follow StarGate, but this voice in my head tells me to pull out my DVD sets. I just had a blast watching "The Pack" about a week ago, because I hadn't seen it in at least six months.

But, the fact that there are only fourteen Firefly episodes means that if I watch them too much, I will get sick of them. So, I have to spread it out.

Excerpt from My Genre Geek Resume:
~huge Odyssey 5 fan (despite its cancellation)
~dangerously obsessed with BtVS and Angel
~former Andromeda fan

Therapy anyone?

You just never know when you will be bored at a friends place and you can pull them out and bring in a new big damn fan!!!

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Thanks, Darin. I'd been wondering why this stuff happened to me. That 'splains it.

NYWOE

Yeah, sometimes I replay them in my head at work, too. It helps if I have another 40 minutes to go before the end of the day. I think to myself: Right about now Wash is throwing the part while Kaylee finds her syncronizers. Now Simon and River are wheeled into the hospital. Let's see, 20 min. to go? I guess River and Simon and Jayne have been caught by the Feds and are about to be interrogated... etc.

There was a period of about a month where I didn't watch any Firefly at all! It was weird. Then I put in a disk, and it seemed so fresh and different. I noticed things I had never noticed before. Especially pacing and camera moviements, and the occasional little line. It was like getting new Firefly. :)

I have heard of a place where humans do battle in a ring of Jell-O.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I have this problem all the time. I use to hope there was nothing on cable so I could pop in one disc or the other to watch an episode. Now I have seen them all at least two dozen times, I have listened to the commentaries several times each, and I still never grow tired of it.

Every Friday is Firefly night in our house and when there is nothing on cable, we still reach for the Firefly DVDs. That voice calls out to me all the time, but I try to resist.

Nywoe, I'm on a forced fast, last night I watched no Firefly, and my goal is to go two weeks 'verseless. And on that fifteenth day I'll pop in a FF disk and I'll be so thrilled my head will explode (ever see that dude in Scanners?).

Hey, my hand's startin' to shake....

Hell yeah. A day aint a complete day until I've ended the night with an epsiode of either Buffy, Angel or Firefly... In fact I have a routine. Midnight comes along and I decide which episode to watch. Put it in the Mac and while all the menu is doing it's mojo I fix myself a bowl of cereal. While that's soaking a while I fetch my duvet and drag it into the front room - with the resonance of the dvd menu still looping retrieve the cereal bowl, hit play and then snuggle down into the duvet - cereal in hand and munch! Ahhh Let the show begin..... Perfect!

Years ago it used to be the same routine but with "Northern Exposure".

Yeah *brushes tear away* it effectively ended there didn't it. That particular episode was very moving. Northern Exposure was one of those shows that would really wrench the heart strings wouldn't it?

D'you remember the one where Chris on the Radio went collecting lights for his latest piece of art? Then when the whole town shows up to see it he switches the thing on and it's a million different lights of all colours and shapes and sizes illuminating "Cicely"... and there is a slightly haunting melodic tune going over the top as we see the reaction on the faces of the towns people.... who being Alaska haven't seen the sunlight for weeks. Beautiful TV just absolutely beautiful.... Hmmm.

I'm a new recruit, actually, my entire house is. The only thing that's been on our TV for 2 weeks is Firefly... It's fantastic.
And yes, I am like that with music, if it's not the Beatles I get bored.

Cry baby cry, make your mother sigh...

"Oh, and I can kill you with my brain." Hehe!
