If you haven't noticed, I think we got a pretty big nod from the boys over at Penny Arcade after they saw the trailer...

WOW! Now this is some good press for our side. PA gets more hits in a day then most sites get in a week, if not a month. Let's hope all this publicity pays off come September.

The fact that someone like me, who has never heard of Serneity or Firefly before, is a tribute to that publicity.

Yeah, I saw the trailer on Ctrl-Alt-Del. This movie will be big. I hope it doesn't turn into a LOTR phenomenon, for the true fans', like you guys, sake.

But I still want to see the movie. And I wish I had found out about Firefly earlier than today.

And you're here because of Penny Arcade and because the Serenity trailer was kick ass?

I hope you go out and see Firefly. Not as epic as Serenity will be but just as good.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Welcome, Phoenix! Seriously, go directly to the Firefly DVDs without waiting to pass Go. I PROMISE you will not regret it and you'll understand why we've been obsessing. Always glad to meet a new Browncoat.

Hey Phoenixmofo, welcome!

Are you called Phoenixmofo because you live in Phoenix, AZ? Or is it a reference to the mythical bird? :)

Oxy - One question though.. Why is the post dated Mon April 25, 11:19 AM? The trailer wasn't out until today at 4..

Phoenixmofo - Welcome, friend. :) Glad you enjoyed the trailer, let's hope there are many many more just like ya.

My other ship is a Mid-Bulk Transport Standard Radion Accelerator Core Class Code 03-K64 Firefly.

I can't think of a reason that would be bad.

Honestly although I love the idea of our cult sort of following, having Serenity become extremely successful wouldn't be so bad. I'm fairly certain Joss said no show no matter what but I'll never uncross my fingers for that possibility. And Penny Arcade is run from somewhere in the state of Washington can't remember what city exactly but I know its right near MS headquarters. But yea that may explain the time difference not sure.

Mooshoo72,
The trailer was released @ 4:00pm EST. This board is basically run from Hawaii, so all posts are time stamped from that time zone. Hence the 5-6 hour difference in posting time versus time stamp.

MooShoo72, there are a couple of reasons I can think of for the odd date/time of the PA posting. One is that they are, in fact, based on the west coast of the US, so are subject to PST.

However, that does not explain the entire day advanced notice of the post. Since I am an avid reader of their site, I think I can clear that minor irregularity by stating that I don't think that date/time of that post was correct. If it were, it would have come two minutes after the post before it...a post that DID, in fact, occur on Monday. I remember checking their site several times on Tuesday while waiting for the trailer to be released and I can honestly say it wasn't there before the trailer went up.

Best theory I got is that Tycho was anticipating the release of the trailer along with the rest of us, wrote the entry on Monday, and was holding off on posting it until a link was made available. Or it could be that these guys are pretty well known and Universal decided to slip them a sneak preview in order to help spread the word. Either way, I am glad to have the boys at PA on our side.

Yeah, I'm really hoping that Real Life ( http://www.reallifecomics.com/) gives us a nod, also. There Greg's currently sitting in front of the theater waiting for Hitchhiker's Guide, which means that he'll see the trailer on the big screen...

(I'm so looking forward to Friday!)

I was just thinking the same thing this morning when I checked Real Life, since he noted that he was a DVD-carrying fan of Firefly in an earlier comic.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome to the site Phoenix, and to the addicition that is Firefly.

I agree w/ Hasufel, if you can pick up the DVD box set and check out the series. It will give you a better appreciation of the characters, the 'verse, and Serenity (the ship) herself. You will not regret it, trust me.

Hmm.. Weird.. Thanks for the explanation though. :) It makes me soooooo happy to see that the Browncoats aren't the only Firefly Fans. That there are actually real people in the entertainment industry that knew how awesome it was too. :) Makes me all warm inside..

My other ship is a Mid-Bulk Transport Standard Radion Accelerator Core Class Code 03-K64 Firefly.

Yeah, I'm not buying them yet, but I am borrowing them from a friend of mine soon.

And I will see the movie, there's no doubt about that.

But my one question is, why do you refer to people who like Firefly as "Browncoats?"

I've seen it elsewhere, too, so I thought I would ask.

Browncoats are what the Independents are called in Firefly. The Independents are the side that Mal and Zoe fought on during the civil war. Fans, after the cancellation of Firefly, adopted the name Browncoats and it has stuck ever since. Universal has now made Browncoats the official name of fans of Firefly and Serenity. It was the name that stuck.

For further reading on Browncoats see this site www.browncoats.com. They have a good definition of what a Browncoat is.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.
