I think a lot of this has to do with registration, I`m going to be coming up as normal (change later into Wild West stuff), there was talk of Macdonalds being close by (I would suggest a Banner or Flag if we meet up at McDonalds).

I`m most likely to be up late morning or earlier if we are going to meet up (some people will have arrived the day before so perhaps they can chip in with recommendations when they arrive the night before)

Still haven`t found out about times for Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy outing - Simonwho had recommendations but I would suggest we all start queueing for reg as soon as arriving at the con (that`s as soon as there`s a designated spot to queue), that way it will leave plenty of time to go travelling - I`ll make room in my car if neccessary (although I don`t know the directions so a navigator would be handy to the cinema!)

How about we say meet up a McDonalds form 11am onwards until say 1230pm then start queueing? I don`t know what the queue will be like for the reg desk (anybody been to a Starfury Event before can report??)

I’m cuckoo-go-crazy over here.

Less than a week until con and I feel like there’s a bajillion things to do. (Bajillion is slightly higher than a gazillion, BTW) I keep having nightmares that some strange series of events will occur that will conspire to keep me from Serenity. Like an unpaid parking ticket from 10 years ago will suddenly pop-up and the federal government will become more Nazi-like than usual and put a hold on my passport. Or perhaps my uncomplimentary (yet hi-larious and true) comments about good ole’ W will have earned me a spot on some terrorist list.
Like I said, cuckoo.

Okay, how many of ya'll are planing on being there for the Friday night stuff?

McDonalds is only a few minutes walk from the Thistle. Just walk out into the street from the hotel, turn right, and McDonalds is on the left hand side by the garage.

As far as queueing for reg, most people just go into the Business Centre and wait for registration to open. There will be people there most of the day, since it seems that quite a few are arriving on Thursday.

Thanks, I still need the rest of the crew for a group photo (almost wrote grope there )

Question might be who`s going to be in costume as one of the BDH? It`ll be cool to get as many together as possible for a photo to post on the boards.

From Starfury mailing list:

Sadly Adam Baldwin has had to cancel his appearance at STARFURY:
SERENITY next weekend due to acting commitments.

I was contacted late last night and informed that Adam had been
unable to secure time off from his new TV series, THE INSIDE. Adam
has spent the last few weeks trying to arrange something with the
production company, but Adam's workload on the series is just too
great, making it impractical for him to take any time off.

I know how dissapointed many of you will be. Adam is himself just as
dissapointed, but ultimately this is good news for Adam fans as it
means he will be having a strong presence in THE INSIDE.

An invite has been forwarded to Adam for a future STARFURY event,
we'll keep you posted.

As to a replacement guest; I sent both an e-mail and a fax to a
FIREFLY / SERENITY actor who was currently signed up for STARFURY:
SERENITY SQUARED, but who isn't at present attending STARFURY:
SERENITY. He so far has not gotten back in touch.

Given that the event is a week today, and that a guest would have to
fly out in 5 to 6 days time, there may be some difficulties in
securing a replacement. But I am currently putting all my energies
into finding a replacement guest for the convention.

As far as Friday goes, I'll have lunch before I leave and will head straight for hotel check-in. I guess then I'll lurk in the lobby looking for other people with Zol's Browncoats/Serenity badges? ;)

Aw, that's a pity. Still, we were well prepared for his having to work that weekend.

Right, must go shopping in London this weekend, buy up everything that I could possibly need. I'm also going to be printing a whole load of Alliance currency so I can buy as many companions as possible on Sunday night. Or do I need to send grovelling video pleas first? I wonder if the bar will take fake money too.

We can hope I suppose I'm guessing the most likely is probably Jonathan Woodward, since he's attended Starfury events before, and is apparently a good laugh.

I know I'm not very talkative on this board (I've only really got work internet access, plus I've been busy rehearsing and performing in a play last and this week), but I'd just like to say I'm looking forward to meeting people at the Con; I have my badge and I'm not afraid to use it... haven't got the time or energy for costumes though, but well done to those who have!

Anyway, gotta go, have a good weekend guys...

It was going to be Sean Maher, but he has told Sean (Harry) that he would love to come but he is filming in Canada at the moment. So it looks like we will be meeting 5 guests not 6. It looks like we will only have 5 guests - due to the time of cancellation, there isn`t much hope for another guest (too short of notice) but hey, it does mean November`s Con will have tobe even shinier - doesn`t it?

I would have love to see someone else take Adams `spot` but I think 5 is a good number and it will mean that queue times will be less crowded & appear like there`s more time for slight mishaps/late alterations.

Let me see, 5 guests between 800 attendees, that's... 0.625% of a guest each. So we're roughly entitled to a finger's worth of flesh each.

AB was never a sure thing, so let's not be pessimistic, Zol: Maybe they've had a replacement lined up all along, for just this contingency. Actually, I will be a bit disappointed if Starfury DOESN'T produce somebody in Adam's place, considering all the warning they had about Adam's likely scheduling conflict.

They did have Sean Maher as a backup but he is also currently filming - Sean Harry mentioned about this on the Yahoo group - I`m not overly worried about this, just feel that it is a pity - I would love to see Safron or Jubal Early or somebody else, but, it`s all in Seans capable hands.

Hitchhikers guide update

For those who are interested on seeing HHHGTTG (I hate typing it out) on thursday, here are some of your options - there`s a cinema 2 miles away from the Heathrow Airport.

Here`s the info to help you ...

Cinemas showing HHGTTG on Thursday -
http://www.scoot.co.uk/cinemafinder/cinfilm.asp?a=15045&ae=London&cc=&
c=774837&ce=Hitchhikers+guide+to+the+Galax
&

Multimap -
http://makeashorterlink.com/?R1C2213FA (gee that was a long link!!)

I`m coming down friday but will most likely see HHGTTG on thursaday - although I`ll most likely be up for watching it again on friday, providing there`s time enough.

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. I hope this useful - the 1st link provides a list of cinemas showing HHGTTG near to Heathrow

Yes, most definitely grovelling, perhaps you could put it on the big screen while people are waiting for the closing ceremony - it is always a very dull wait. In fact all the (single) guys could make a grovelling video. That would be much fun

Also, what happens if we don't have a badge? Ooooh dear, maybe I should make a cheap and cheerful version just in case....

I`m sorry, what about the male companions who are looking for that special Gal? You just can`t go forgetting about those -

I don`t Dance and not sure about Romance,
but I know what I like and like what I know,
so if you fancy me your companion to be,
you can`t do too wrong accomplying me.

How`s that for an invite from the reverse perspective? a kind of advert
