The other scripts are forthcoming. The poster of the thread over at the official forums is getting it from somebody who bought the scripts off of eBay. Side note: I've copied & pasted the script into a word doc and spellchecked, as well as removing production notes and swapping around a scene that was shot out of sequence. Haken, if you're seeing this, you wanna post it here?

My hair is now completely white and my hair looks similar to Book's. I still shudder with excitment. It's like that Steven King short story the "Jaunt" I'm that little kid that stayed awake.

I'm even more severly pissed at Fox now after reading the script it had what mindless sex and vilence driven people wanted and a touching story that made you just sit there with your mouth on the floor after each event in the climax. I won't riun it but this episode was great now if I can only see it out side my head.

Quote:

You are right, Sarah. Heart of Gold takes place after WS, but before OiS.

So what Inara/Mal moments are different with this new spoilery knowledge? Nothing from WS, but OIS?

Whoa, hey now: first,from OiS:

Inara, "I don't know why I haven't left already."

Mal, "I don't know what's keeping you/forcing you to stay." (me being lazy and not looking up the exact words)

So um, without being explicit, that makes no sense in light of this missing ep . . .

So, in case the title of the thread wasn't spoiler warning enough:

**********SPOILER WARNING!************

. . . unless Inara has made her statement to leave, and now she has reneged on that comment because she is just weak in the knees, and waiting for Mal to tell her no. Perhaps procrastinating, giving Mal plenty of time to keep her from leaving at all? She's definitely afraid of herself/her emotions . . . it just seems odd that they would go back to their song and dance after that.

Second, In the kitchen scene discussing River, Inara busts in to the snickering saying that it isn't a laughing matter, that what they are discussing is their lives, and River's life. Now, if she was gonna go ahead with what she claimed (I'm trying to be all discreet here), then wouldn't she just have said, "This is River's life we're talking about?" or "River and your life"?

Third, the final scene where Mal checks out her cut lip, and she pushes his hand away, and Mal has a big 'whoops, I just crossed that line that I have no right to cross' look on his face.

That actually still makes sense. That was actually the scene that said something happened between them in HoG. That some new progression in their relationship happened, and it backfired badly. Now we know what it was.

Is it safe to discuss the actual script here? Should we do big spoilery warnings at the top of each post? What's this sites etiquette on such things?

I don’t know if I was the only one, but when I read this script it didn't sound all that Firefly-like to me. It did have a few jokes that sounded great, but I'm trying not to say too much and spoil it for other fans. I think a lot of what makes Firefly so wonderful is the cast and the acting, not just the script, so maybe that was why it didn’t quite click for me. But just to argue and question, how do we know that this is the actual script? I think everyone knew that Heart of Gold had a plethora of whores and a bordello on a dusty planet, so it could be faked. Maybe I’m just paranoid. Did anyone else notice the same things?

I’m sorry to post this, but that Heart of Gold script brought it on.
I know a lot of fan’s are not going to like it, but as much as I love Firefly, I feel like it was almost nice that we only got to see a few episodes. We were all given a small look into the lives of these characters and their world. Most of us learned the lingo, and can all relate to something or someone. We were given just enough information to keep imagining what might of happened next, and for each fan the future scenarios are different. (Personally I foresee Simon falling madly in love with a red head named Kaythryn and Zoë teaching her to shoot. ) But, and I only say this because I don’t see Firefly coming back, if we were able to see ten years of Firefly it wouldn’t be the same as we see it now. I have a bad feeling that the amazing, original ideas would waver. Everyone would sleep around with everyone, people who die off and come back, or worse, be replaced by a different actors. Example: Years down the road Jubel Early comes back on the show, joins the gang, and then has years of an on and off again sexual relationship with Kaylee who he had threatened to rape earlier. I don’t know if I could take that. (In that story line Jubel is like Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer- don’t get me wrong, I like that show, but I don’t think it would work in the wild world of Firefly.) This doesn’t change the fact that I would still watch Firefly religiously, but I like how it has stayed in my mind.
***SPOILER!***

Select to view spoiler:

Here's the part that actually has something to do with Heart of Gold. At the end when Inara says she’s leaving-- maybe it’s a joke-- but it didn’t fit with the picture of Firefly I’ve had in my mind for so long. I knew she tried to keep separate from the criminal life on Serenity, but I figured her to stay around with her “family”.

Just another example of why I like keeping Firefly the way I’ve seen it in the aired episodes. Alright, I figure that’s enough of that. Sorry for how all that ended up sounding, I'm really not anti-Firefly, just a lover-of-firefly-and-not-wanting-it-to-change.

She's not 'leaving' because of criminal activities. She's leaving because being near Mal is too painful. Her decision is exactly in keeping with how I view Firefly, and Inara's character.

Hey, Kaythryn, I dig you. While right now I seriously believe that our series has a chance, I've thought what you wrote.

This is a little how it is in my head--we were given a little something precious. If that's all we get, it's enough. Yes? No? They're a family on Serenity (insert your own Inara thought here) and we're a family out here now, too, I think. Even if we never meet each other and nothing ever happens, I feel like being here in this now with y'all is also a precious thing.

No matter how much more we get, I'm holding to this and to the sacredness of it.

Do I make any sense? I hope so.

You make perfect sense. This board is my home away from home, and I think it is the same for several others. Serenity created a family (at times might be dysfunctional ) but it is a wonderful family that we all learned to love.

I love our family, here, now. And I will never forget or leave it.
