My sister sent me an e-mail today. Most of it was her thoughts on what Zoe would be like if she were pregnant. Thought I'd share it with you guys and get your opinions. Sorry if this has already been discussed.

Can you imagine Zoe pregnant? I mean, she's so straightlaced and gungho about everything. Also, do you think she took Wash's name? Zoe Wash. Weird. They never do tell you her last name. It was always "Zoe and Malcolm Reynolds" on The Message.

But anyways, back to her pregnancy. I think it'd be a hoot. First, I think she'd be really happy. Just incredibly happy about everything, nothing could phase her. Could you see her bouncing around the ship; in love with everyone and everything? It'd be scary. And dang funny.

Then I think she'd start nesting and demand that Serenity be cleaned (its quite filthy if you think about it.) She'd get everyone to help her disinfect and sanitize and paint and whatnot. She'd tell Jayne to mop the floors and he'd say, "I ain't moppin' no ruttin' floors" and she'd just give him a look and the next thing you know you'd see Jayne mopping the floors. She's got Mal scrubbing the windows. Can you imagine?

But then, when she got really big, she'd get really mean and grouchy. She would just growl at everyone and everything. And of course Wash would be a hoot, in his various stages of taking care of her, freaking out at the idea of parenthood, etc.

Of course, this just makes me mourn the show even more.

Just about everything you can imagine -- and a lot of things you might wish you couldn't -- has been written in fanfiction. Kept a bunch of us hopeful during the Dark Times, before the DVDs and the subsequent movie news. I recommend you go explore it, or post some yourself, about the possibilities of Zoe-as-mother.

Always read the rating and the summary before you plunge in, just to make sure you know what you're opening up. Not all stories have plot.
