Okay so I know I'm gonna get plasted by about a hundred messages about how I'm a day late and a dollar short, but I've been out of it for a while studying for finals etc. I just saw the trailer for the BDM and boy-o-boy does it look good. I watched the Revenge of the Sith trailer afterward to compare and our BDM is gonna blow that silly little movie away. Oh man am I pumped now. I'm gonna go pop in an episode of FF...the only question is which one to watch.

Actually, I was just saying how I had just seen the trailer last weekend for the first time. I feel better knowing that I wasn't the last of us to see it. It does look supercool though, doesn't it. Do you know if there is a link to a website that has it on the internet? I want to see it again. I didn't get a good look at the reaver. If I'm going to be a reaver for Halloween (I don't think they have female reavers, but whatever) I'd better start on my costume now.

Well, in the the trailer there was a close-up of one in the trailer with long hair, and the face was dreadful, but I think it was femininly dreadful, and that just sounds really odd, right. Yes I know, since I noticed that I must be crazy, but we all know Joss is into girl power, and why not girl power for the Reavers as well? They could have a matriarchal (sp?)community, I'm just saying.

So I guess my point is, I don't think being a reaver is gender-specific. Women has as much right to be scary, hollow, cannibalistic, mad savages as men.

Was that majorly weird?

Sincerly can't wait till the Big Damn Movie's released.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but as much as we all love Firefly/Serenity, it can't possibly compete with Star Wars III in ticket sales. In fact, I predict that "Revenge of the Sith" will be the summer's biggest blockbuster! If "Serenity" takes in even half the ticket sales Lucas' "silly little movie" does, I'll be thrilled!

Lets be realistic here!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Hey - late like me. I was on vacation and missed a lot (the screening tickets! but I'll get over that) and the night we got back I saw the trailer - amazing! Far exceded my expectations. When I originally read that River was doing wire work I have to admit I was a little skeptical, but WOW! she really did a great job (can any one with good screen resolution tell if she's wearing leg extensions, I mean really!). I thought 2 and 3 are in the bag, this baby's gonna do great no problem and who wouldn't want to have the tv rights...
fwiw - I watched ep #1.

I have to agree with you, but I’ll settle for Serenity making enough money to get the sequel under way.

Mr. Realistic,
Who said anything about ticket sales? Firefly blows Star Trek away, but Star Trek has made far more money. Try to think in more expanded ways than dollars and cents. The Movie not the ticket sales are gonna blow Revenge of the Stih away...well judging by the last two SW movies. And believe me I'm a huge huge SW fan.

Sorry, but dollars are what counts in the end. If quality was important in Hollywood, reality shows wouldn't be on TV. It's always been about ratings and ticket sales. If Serenity doen't make enough money, Universal won't greenlight a sequel.

Your Star Trek comment proves my point! As much as Star Trek has been a cash cow for Paramount, as soon as the ratings fell, it got canceled!

That being said, I have no doubt that "Serenity" will be a big hit, and it will lead to other movies.

I also believe that "Revenge of the Sith" will surprise a lot of naysayers. Critics that have seen it already, are saying that Lucas was listening to the fans this time and that this movie delivers the goods.

Here's my problem with threads like this. What happens IF Star Wars III is as good or even better than Serenity (oh the horror!!!)? Big deal! Just because I love Firefly, doesn't mean I can't still be a Trek fan, or a Star Wars fan, or a Battlestar Galactica fan, does it? Why does it have to be a competition? They aren't even the same types of movies/shows. Star Wars is pure fantasy. It's modern mythology. Star Trek is a space opera. Battlestar Galactica is nuts and bolts sci-fi, with a character driven storyline about survival.

Firefly is something different. It's not epic like Star Wars and BSG. It's about basic things like family, friendship, and loyalty. That's what made Firefly great. The characters. The sense of family.

They all have things that attract fans, and I like each of them for different reasons! When Star Trek returns as a series or movie, I'll check it out (praying that Berman and Bragia won't be involved). When the Star Wars series is made, I'll be glued to my TV to see if that universe translates to the small screen, and you better believe I'll be tuning into new episodes of BSG come july! BUT, most of all, come september, I'll be the first in line at the local mulitplex, wearing my Brown Coat, ticket in hand to see the BDM!

I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

If what you're really worried about is that it makes enough money for Universal to make a sequel I don't think that'll be a problem, unless they pull a Fox and don't advertise it (I should say advertise it badly which is what fox really did, but I've seen the trailer and its cool). Good movies, if marketed well do well. Even if it doesn't fly high at the theatres that doesn't mean it won't do well in video. The Punisher and Underworld are good examples of that. Niether did fantastic in theatres but both had video rentals high enough that the studios are considering sequels.
As far as the competition thingy...it's just harmless fun that you might be taking a little too personally. As I said I'm a huge huge SW fan (though Star Trek bores me to tears except the Wrath of Khan). I want Revenge of the Sith to be good...I want it to be the best SW movie ever, though it'll be hard to top Empire. I know it's gonna do well at the box office. Anything with Star Wars on it will do well at the box office no matter how bad it might be. The problem with SW is that the last two missed the point...the fans like good characters and good story, the special effects are just iceing on the cake. Lucas didn't realize that. We have only the media to blame. If you read anthing about the original SW you hear about the revolutionary SFX and little more. So he got it in his head that that is what people wanted and left the story and character developement in the backseat. Thats also what happens when you are surrounded by yes men. If this thrid one is good it'll be because he finally took all the bad comments of the first two to heart. Serenity will have a good story (It did for several TV episodes anyway) and good character developement. Of that i'm positive, and the SFX to boot. Star Wars will definately have the SFX, and on May 19 I'll know how the story and character developement was. Though I did read he brought in a playwright to fix it up, so thats good.
Anyway I'm as pumped about serenity as I was about Phantom Menace. Though I'll go see Revenge of the Sith on opening day (or at least that weekend) I just can't get as excited about it. I've just been disappointed too many times.
