I didn't get to see the screening- but from the trailer it would seem that Shepard Book is missing from the film- is this true? I liked his charactor, does anyone know why he was not willing or able to make the movie? Is Ron Glass dead?
And on another note - has the movie been overly "Hollywoodized" with gient fire balls and excessive CGI? I read in some posts that they abandoned the "horses used for transportation" theme of the series..... and it seemed from the trailor that they had one of the now ubiquitous, computer generated "thousand ship" fight scenes - I kind of liked the original "space is a vast and lonely place" theme from the series- don't want to be critical, just curious.........

I think he was at one of the screenings, too. That's what I read at the OB...Austin?

Ron was at the screening last night here in Austin along with the Cap'n, Nathan Fillion.
Yes, Preacher is in the movie.

Ron Glass wasn't in the trailer, so I'm assuming that he won't be in the movie. Also, the rest of the movie wasn't in the trailer, so I'm assuming that the movie is only a few minutes long and doesn't have a coherent plot.

Hey, be nice. It was an honest concern that many having seen the trailer have had. And we're trying to attract people to Firefly, not scare them away, remember? Trying to make someone feel stupid won't help. No need to get snappy.

Exactly. Emphasis on "many." The question keeps popping up constantly even though cast information is so easily available via IMDb.com (not to mention the fact that we've known for almost a year that everyone was coming back for the BDM).

Besides, I hardly think a little innocuous sarcasm is going to hurt anybody.

I certainly don't want any spoiler replies, but on the issue of Ron Glass, anyone else think that he wasn't terribly eager to revive his role as Book? If I recall, he was the last member of the crew to sign onto the movie. Might the fact that he's found religion ( not Christian )now and such have any bearing on his desire to play a Shepard?

whatever his feelings when he signed on to do the movie
(which obviously I don't know)
it would certainly seem that he has changed his opinion now.
He was in London for Starfury's Serenity Convention last weekend
AND he was in Austin for the advanced screening

so it sounds like he is happy he was in the movie,
and is happy to show his support for the film.

PS and it can't be that he was forced to do those things by Universal,
he could have always avoided both and claimed work commitments.
Adam Baldwin had to cancel on Starfury and Jewel Staite was supposed to be at Seattle's advanced screening and they both had had work commitments that prevented them.

I don't know how eager (or otherwise) he was to take the role (although I assume the delay was merely timing, and had nothing to do with anything else)....But I do know that he was Buddhist way before Firefly even started, so I hardly think that has any bearing on this particular subject.

Tell me you're not actually as prejudiced as your post made you appear?

Which has me a bit confused. From the extra interview stuff on the DVD, Ron seemed very moved to have been a part of this project. It almost seemed to me that he enjoyed it so much, that he didn't want to revive his role and some how tamper w/ the memory of it all. I could be way off on this, I'll admit.

Tell me you're not serious w/ that question.(I'm having trouble waking up this a.m.) There's not an ounce of prejudice anywhere near my question. It was just a quesiton.

Well, there was a smiley, which, when included, indicates a certain levity and good humour regarding the comment/question associated with same.

At least, it does when I do it. Your mileage may vary with others....

Normally I'm all for sarcasm. I use it on an almost constant basis. Just don't want anyone's feelings to be hurt. Some people can be pretty sensitive.
