CRUSHING DISAPPOINTMENT...

...is not in store! Good things are coming... to a theater (possibly) near you!

It's Joss, your roving reporter, with another ZOWIE! exclusive(!) hot off the presses! Browncoats Bring Boffo B.O.! Vegas Vibe Very Vivacious! You heard it first here, true believers...

Okay, first of all, being that guy is exhausting. So no more roving and on to the meat of the thing. I just saw the whole cast today (which is in itself a wonderful and rare thing) and we all compared notes on the screenings, the general feeling being: damn. As in, Big Damn. You guys were SO sweet. We all thought it was a grand time. More (or at least just as) importantly, the Uni Brass thought it worked out great too, so... wait for it... there's gonna be more.

You might have heard rumors, but I'm here to confirm. On thursday the 26th the studio is doing another round of hit-and-run screenings, and this time it's not ten cities -- it's twenty. It's another vote of confidence from the studio and another chance for us to say "thanks" to you guys for keeping this all rolling. And most importantly, another chance to run that videotape of me before the movie, looking so tragically sexy.

"Wait a minute! What cities!?!?! Hey, %#$@face, stop talking about how sexy you are (although you are confessedly quite the dish) and give us the info!" Well, I don't actually know. I think we'll be repeating in the cities we've hit and adding 10 new ones. I expect can'tstopthesignal will have the info some time tomorrow, and let the manager-threatening begin! (Or, you know, the ticket buying.) Hopefully one of those cities will be near you, and won't be one where the film breaks and has to start again (heh heh... professional showbusiness... ). I don't know if any of the peeps is gonna be able to come out this time, but if they can they will, and I know Jewel's going somewhere 'cause she was working last time.

That's it! Except to add that Summer and I were pretty overwhelmed last Thurs, and I got the impression everyone else was too. Of course everyone else didn't have to put up with Summer's constant whispering of "I SAVED this film, Hackboy!" or her "surefire" system of winning at craps that had me down six large come the dawn... That girl. Just trouble.

Enough with this post. You guys are beyond swell. Let the party continue.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

I had to miss the first showing in Austin (it was reachable, but other committments intervened).

Now, if they'll only add Dallas to their list...

Thanks for the cross fertilization - I've passed on the good news to the OB, too.

Avoid going to that thread, at least until tomorrow when the moderator can clean it up -- a troll is posting all sorts of nasty images to it.

actually that troll is really going to a great deal of effort,
I kinda like the Joss as Jesus one...
anyway, to important business:

do you think tickets will go on sale later tonight? Like at midnight LA time?
or do you think they'll go on sale tomorrow night:
like at 11:59pm LA time?
or maybe tomorrow is just a guestimate anyway...

do you think the tickets will sell out as quickly?
or even faster?

How many tickets do you think will end up on eBay?

Thanks for the heads up, rklenseth!

I sure hope Universal and the movie theaters do something about the ticket buying situation so that as many fans as possible can make it.

It's a good thing I'll be out of the country that week so I'm not tempted to hit a second screening and deprive a first-timer of a ticket .

Oh, and that is weird about the troll image thing. Someone has way too much time on their hands and an unhealthy fixation on Joss. (I, of course, had to take one for the team and inspect the images to make sure they were just as bad as Shiny described.).

*cries*.

I'm going to be visiting my parents and, while conceivably could make it to Austin, it'd be a little far to drive [especially by myself]. My brother would LOVE to go but /might/ not be able to since he'll still be in school (graduating that weekend though... so I'll see).

Maybe there will be one in Dallas, that would be a lot better.

but Seattle IS:

Regarding tickets already on sale:

On Fandango, I can only find through May 22. How do I ask it for a date beyond the dropdown list?

I was just going to say the same thing myself. I mean yes, I've already seen it, but there are others besides myself in the UK who would like to see it. And, to be shamelessly selfish, I wouldn't object to seeing it again...

I'm sure it's legit. Chris Buchanan reposted the message on the OB last night.

I just think he got all excited and wanted to let us know vs. the marketing plan the previous announcement was...

It looks like the UNI board has got their troll problem under control so they may send out a global later today. Hopefully, with all cities listed and links set up at the Can't Stop the Signal website.

Seattle, so far as I can tell, is the only one that is set up to sell May 26th 10pm show
(which would be 'Serenity')
if your city doesn't have the pull down showing May 26th 10pm show...
then it is necessary to wait until they do have the tickets available for sale
(which is the situation for Chicago and most cities)...
at some point today (could be 11:59 pm tonight for all I know)
they should have the tickets available with ALL the cities listed, here:
http://www.cantstopthesignal.com/
but as we can see...that hasn't happened yet!

Good luck!

edited to ad: I'm sure the original post was Joss
his correct name at the Universal board is
Joss_Whedon, and he is identified as 'Serenity Cast/Crew' (which would have to have been done by the board owner)
and he had the right number of total posts...
only 5! LOL

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Ok, can'tstopthesignal.com has not updated, and I can't find any mention online of what the additional 10 cities will be for the next screening. Anyone seen or heard anything.

I'm sure I am hoping against hope that they will have a screening in Richmond or anywhere close, but a browncoat can dream right?

I think almost everyone who goes to see it early, will see it again.

I'm a little concerned for other issues:

I'm not sure announcing the additional screenings without locations was the best idea. Seems like it could backfire if too many people get their hopes up, just to get shut out again. It might not be as much of a conern if the movie wasn't still 4.5 months away.

Which brings me to my next concern. As someone who as trying to work on something for the Premeire, I have to wonder if they are still thinking of monkeying with the release date.

Hi Mike! I agree - thinking the sucess of the prescreenings may motivate Universal to up that release date.

Ironic, our premiere shindig plans may be a victim of the prescreening sucess. Not sure how I'll feel about that... (happy mostly!)
