Anyone have any thoughts on dressing up as characters from the show/movie for the September premiere?

at the Advanced Preview there were a lot of Blue Sun t-shirts and Hawaiian shirts...
and some really exotic Inara dresses...
I had a Jayne knit hat I was kind of embarrassed to put on (besides we were waiting in line indoors and it was too warm for a wool hat)...

so yeah, I don't think many of us will be able to resist wearing soome costume elements on Sept 30th!

I'm having a difficult time in deciding what I'm going to wear ... my choices are ...

1. Browncoat attire including the world's most kick ass boots.
2. Full on Companion in a raspberry velvet gown.
3. Whore. Saloon girl costume to the max.
4. Chinese style costume.

Whatever shall I wear Friday night? ARGH!

Nice growl

Ineffective as a thread hijack ... but good growl.

Happy 1/2 birthday, sorry I can't travel across the country for the festivities.

I say, let's go subtle and tasteful. A Blue Sun t-shirt, a brown coat, a western dusters or boots, but I'm not into the whole out-and-out costume thing.

I actually have a full length dress that I bought while I was working in China but I just don't think I'm going to wear it. Maybe I'll change my mind.

If it was just Browncoats, I might, but I don't want to scare non-Browncoats away.

I wasn't going to dress up as a character, per se, but I am planning on wearing my Fighting Elves shirt with a cunning Jayne hat.

I have a brown tee shirt with an image of Serenity I ironed onto it a while back that I will probably wear to every movie I see the rest of the year. Wore it to Hitchhikers' Guide twice already.

For the premiere, though, I haven't decided whether to wear my fan-generated Blue Sun tee shirt from a couple of years ago or a pair of coveralls. I think I most resemble Kaylee, physically, and I am an engineer, although I want to be Zoe when I grow up. Got a lovely fan-generated Serenity patch to put on my old coveralls, no cute little animals or hearts, though.

The husband will be in his brown great coat -- one guess why he wanted that piece of outer wear -- boots, and whatever shirt is clean at the time.

"Is there any way I'm gonna get out of this with honor and dignity?"

I'll be in my browncoat, but that's standard attire for me nowadays.

I'm going to alternate Blue Sun shirts each time I go see Serenity. Tan the 1st time Black the 2nd.

Totally agree - I just happen to have a photo of my fav browncoat ensemble (from my last business trip to NYC) that's along those lines. Slightly rakish yet approachable, casual without being trashy, and extra inside pockets for smuggling med supplies or the odd weapon:

I have a coat that looks like Jayne's "disguise" from "Jaynestown". Espscialy if I'm wearing goggles and have the hood up.

Y'know, it's funny, but if I wear what I often do -- a Hawaiian shirt and a vest with lots of pockets -- I'll already be in costume as Wash.

I've never dressed up as a character. Amazon.com has some Chinese inspired shirts and then, since I live in the Los Angeles area, there's always making a trip to Chinatown for an outfit. Or, I could just come cute.

I'm going to the NCBDMPP and I believe there will be a costume contest, going to the airport in costume to pick up people coming from far away and who knows what other shenanigans, so I think I will try to dress up. I don't care about people looking at me funny, and it's always more fun to be silly in a crowd. Haven't decided what I'm going to do yet. I have partials for a Kaylee costume, and I have a Serenity t-shirt with River on it. So who knows? I think it'll be much fun.

Ash-you wouldn't really walk away from seeing the movie just because there are people in costume would you? Once the movie starts, it's too dark to see them anyway. All I'm sayin' is, don't make the movie suffer just 'cuz of the crazy fans.
