I was having a conversation with some friends today and found out that what I'm expecting from the movie seems to differ greatly from their expectations, so was just wondering what you guys are expecting from the movie plot-wise.

Personally I'm expecting it to revolve around River's connection to the alliance
I'm expecting at least one person will die
I'm expecting a lot of reavers and that they somehow tie into the River storyline
I'm expecting some sort of bust-up between Simon and Mal
I'm expecting a kickass bad guy
I'm expecting no sound in space.

I'm expecting Joss to raise the bar for big-screen genre movies, the same way he's done for series TV. In terms of success, I'm looking for something about like the Matrix - something of a slow start in terms of sales with word of mouth building until it's hailed as the sleeper hit of the year.

But that's assuming low keyed marketing, which I honestly prefer. If Universal goes balls to the wall with TV ads it could go big much sooner.

I expect we will see some changes in the personalities of the characters. In the DVD commentary’s it was said Mal was intended to be darker and tormented, I expect we will see that in addition to other changes making it closer to Joss's origional vison.
