I live in Cheltenham but would travel to London or other places that are nearby home (Cheltenham) - I know London isn`t clsoe but it`s accessable by Coach (means I could drink a little)

So when`s the next London Shindig?

Cheers!

I organised the last one and will try and get something done. I'm on holiday in Seattle at the moment so will get to work when i get back next week.

Totally screwed up here. I had a ticket for a Serenity preview tonight but gave it away as I had a barbecue to go too. At the barbecue I met people who were going along to the film anyway......with their friend Adam Baldwin.

Aaaargh! That would have been fun!

Just bumping this up - I'd certainly be interested as fairly local to me.

(maybe it was a different Adam Baldwin.....maybe...)

I live in Stoke-on-Trent, but I can probably make any London shindig... unless I have an exam the next day (my exams are june 14th-28th). Course, something more central will suit me better, but I can try for whatever.

I live in North Wales, but could probably make it up to London, I'm going to see my Dad in Wimbledon at half-term (28th May-5th June). Anyone up for a shindig then? I reckon it'd be mighty fine. And shiny. Woohoo!

this has been suggested on the firefly london meetup board

"Why don't you go next week 15th/16th May there is a sci fi expo in docklands. on the DLR. 6 pound per day, at least it is vagely related. no prebooking required. I can't make a saturday because of work commitments but i am goin on the sunday with friends.."

from Stewie

half term is probably a good idea - isn't there a bank holiday around that time

June has the Film & comic Con (as advertised on the Serenity boards even though no-ones confrimed for it. Does anybody want to meet up for that?

OMG - I got a twin (almost 1/2 my age ), btw even though I don`t get along with my sister, her birthday is June 1st (day after)

I`m having a little get together at my local Jazz`n`Blues Cafe with live music on Friday the 27th, but Saturday, Sunday & Monday are free at the moment.

As it`s a BankHoliday that weekend, could hang out on the Thames or something like that.

Just going to check now as to what i on over that weekend.

I quite like the idea of spending a tour in a Duck but it`s £17.50 each! bit expensive for some.

Well I'm hoping on going to the Convention on 26th June so can maybe meet up with some of you then.

Otherwise, as I'm only 40 mins away by train (and worked in London for 6 hellish years of commuting), can make most weekends. Bank Holiday weekend certainly sounds hopeful?

(saw the Titanic exhibition in it's original home at the Science Museum - quite amazing. Plus they had this "fake" iceberg and you cannot believe how cold that thing was).

We could go and see this Hitchhikers Exhibiton at the National Science Museum that fray has posted in another thread at the end of the month.

London Film & Comic Con is June 25th & 26th - I`ll most likely be there too.

So, doe anybody have a preference as to Day & Time? I would like to say around Middday on Saturday, but we`ll need to get an exact time to book (and find out availability of tickets)

p.s. might be an idea to have 2 times when you can make it, just in case that time is booked.

Provided Chiltern Railways don't spring any engineering works on me I can make any day over the Bank Holiday weekend. Guss it depends how far people are travelling - as I'm nearby any time's fine by me.

As I'm hoping (hoping? I WILL be there) to go to Serenity2 would be really nice to meet some of you beforehand - and obviously if you're not so keen on the Hitchhiker's idea feel free to shout out.

There`s nothing stopping this from being an all day event - only trouble then would be - last trains & coaches back from London fro people who don`t live near.

I`m going to ring up 1st thing in the week to find out about tickets for the Hitchhikers Guide Exhibition - probably for around 12-1pm Saturday and I`ll report back on the availability and whether I`ve booked. I would like to have gone Monday, but it would mean a very late night/early morning return on the coach back home & I would like to have a shufty around some shops so maybe Sunday will be out too.

If people want to come back and we can try and arrange something.

Looks like there`s a booking fee of £1 per ticket for advanced bookings but we could trun up anyway nd have a look around the museum or shop until the time comes up when everyone can see it - I`ll be up for 12pm (midday) on Saturday followed by a trip to Forbidden Planet on Shaftsbury Avenue (it`s a great place to visit with money!)

So I guess neeed to ask who will want to come at that time and where to meet up?

Cheers!

The tickets are -

£7.95 Adult
£6.95 - Children 4-16, Students, Disabled & carers

children under 2 are free but if they are 3 then they might not get in

+£1 for every ticket purchased (not in a bulk lot)

So I guess it`s book now for 28th of May Saturday 1200pm and we`ll see who turns up?

So, meetup outside if it`s sunny or inside by the shop if its pouring down with rain, sleet, snow, hail, frogs, cats, dogs etc.

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. they are showing the Film on the IMAX too (it`s not in 3D but, hey, what a big screen - Marvin will really have the brain a size of a planet up there!

Well, I might be able to make it to the Hitchhiker's exhibition, but I'm only arriving in London on the Saturday and it's a 31/2 hour journey from N. Wales. I might be able to change and come late on Friday. Hmmm. Wait and see. How will we recognise the other Flans though? If we have to pre-book, I'm assuming it'll be pretty damn busy, especially on a Bank-Holiday weekend! Anyway, I'll see what I can do!

If the lay-out is the same as for the Titanic/LOTR exhibitions, there's a open area outside the exhibition (probably with a shop) which would be an ideal place to meet.

I think we should all be able to recognise Captain Tight-Pants...

Hmmm, I don`t think the tightpants will be worn in general public - Conventions & Shindigs only although come the premier - I may just have to get myself a new browncoat of the full length modified - the short one just don`t look right.

It does lead to a slight problem when the premier is aired, Mal`s sidearm could be a problem - I would like to wear it but, it`s a bit too realistic for the police (I was a little worried at the Serenity Con to be honest)

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. In reply to the other question - You don`t have to pre-book, but it will be better to do so - the exhibition starts on the 28th and you never know who may be there for the opening day!

And a sitdown meal at some stage - Pizzahut or something else.
