This is all the info I've been able to cobble together regarding the unaired Firefly episodes:

Quote:

"Heart of Gold"
The crew engages in a little Magnificent Seven action when they're hired to protect a whorehouse.
Guest Stars:
Melinda Clarke (as Nandi)
Fredric Lehne (as Ranse Burgess)
Kimberly McCollough (as ??)
Writer: Brent Matthews
Director: Tom Wright

"Trash"
About the return of Mrs. Reynolds.
Guest Stars:
Franc Ross (as Monty Reynolds)
Christina Hendricks (as Saffron)
Writer: ??
Director: ??

"The Message"
The crew transports the body of an old soldier and corrupt police want it back.
Writer: ??
Director: ??

Anyone have additional scraps of info to feed us rabid Firefly fans? Who wrote and directed the final two episodes? Who is Monty Reynolds?

How about someone from Mutant Enemy... 'lil help?!

I've heard rumors that Richard Burgi (Detective James Ellison from The Sentinel) is a guest star in one of the remaining three episodes. My guess is he is in "The Message."

Adam left this comment on the Jayne journal in the running Firefly Jorunal Role-play:

(12/10/2512)
Dear Diary--
I got a me a post from Mother! It is a package with a letter in it!
"My dear boy. I hope you are well and that you get this soon in your travels. Thank you for the credits you forwarded, they have helped as Matty is still sick with the Damplung. He waves hello, and so does your father. He is in good spirits and there was layoffs but the foreman said no one can weld like a Cobb so he has employment still. I made you the enclosed"-- Ooh! Enclosed! It is a hat, mother done knitted me a hat of gold and orange, it is my very favorite color, with them flaps I like so much, to keep my ears from gettin' frosted out here in the black! It has one of them pompoms on top too, just like Matty's, Woo hoo! -- "the enclosed to keep you warm on your travels. Hope to hear from you soon, love, Mother." My new hat has a cunningness to it! I will wear it a whole lot. Damn straight!
I am hungry now and need to go eat some of those rations I took from Dr. Sissypants.
JC

He also said if I watched "The Message" it would make sense. So, I suppose that's a bit of a spoiler. Also, he doesn't run the Jayne journal. That's just one of the role-players, he only left a commnent to one of the entries.

Yow! That's a helluva teaser.

What I want to know is, what exactly do they mean by "Magnificent Seven action."

He's funny like that. The day after he made the comment in the journal (what was he doing up at 5am?), he...well, sorta pounced me on the firefly board and asked if I liked his comment. I say "pounced" because he seemed all bouncy and happy. I guess he likes the role-play :)

"Trash" is written by Ben Edlund and Jose Molina, directed by Vern Gillum. And quoting A.B. on the official board for the plot...

Quote:

Suffice to say: Mal and Saffron have a reunion, and Inara isn't pleased. Zoe smacks Saffron in the jaw.... etc.

There's so much we're missing.

"The Magnificent Seven," based on Akira Kurosawa's "The Seven Samurai," dealt with a poor farming village that was always being raided by outlaws. They save up their money and go to a famous gunslinger, asking to hire him to protect the village the next time the raiders come through. The leader assembles seven experts in various lethal professions and they help train the villagers to fight as well. They then beat off the raiders when they show up. So I'd imagine this episode has to do with the prostitutes hiring the Firefly crew to help them fend off some guys that are stealing from or abusing them.

i think it's doubtful that monty reynolds will be mal's son... or even brother. the actor franc ross is an older gentleman. here is his profile at the internet movie database:

http://us.imdb.com/Name?Ross,+Franc

my guess is that he would be mal's father, maybe uncle - tho it is possible he could be a(n) (very) older brother.

hope this fills in some of the mystery.... i'm hoping that if nothing else joss will give us a dvd collection of firefly with all the eps produced.... be a great selling point (see the unseen final episodes - only on DVD!)

hint hint.

cheers

Enterprise did a truly horrible Magnificent Seven-like episode this season. They took an awesome premise and turned it into the most joyless, boring and inept story I've seen come out of the Star Trek camp yet. I swear the writers for Enterprise are mere paycheck collectors.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Whedon/Mutant Enemy take on the Magnificent Seven concept... if indeed that's what this episode is about. I'm certain there's an unexpected tweak or two in there somewhere.

well of course enterprise sucks... you do know of course that the writing crew features alumni of such classics as "team knight rider" [David A. Goodman] and "baywatch" [André & Maria Jacquemetton].

really i think it's that star trek and star wars have just become so full of being religions of themselves that they forgot they were supposed to be entertaining.

one of the reasons firefly was so refreshing.

cheers

p.s. let it be known that i for one, greatly enjoy the character of kaylee - even tho polls show that most of you don't!

Just thought I'd add to the pile this info from a recent eBay sale of these scripts:

Quote:

"Heart of Gold" - Mal and the crew come to the aid of a brothel besieged by a ruthless land baron.

"Trash" - The return of the character 'Saffron' from the earlier episode "Our Mrs. Reynolds". Here the scheming villainess has a job for the Serenity crew. Can she be trusted?

"The Message" - Written by exec producers Joss Whedon and Tim Minear. The crew must deliver the corpse of an old war comrade home, but things are not as they seem.

Wanna see 'em. Wanna see 'em NOW!!!

That hat is in the gag reel! Its so hideous I laughed when I saw it cause I was sure that was the joke.

So these episodes are going to be leaked out to the internet at some point right? I ain't holdin' my breath for FOX to show them.

I think it's really doubtful that Monty is Mal's father, because in Our Mrs. Reynolds, when he was talking to Saffron, it sort of sounded like his father was deceased, or at least, not in the picture. Maybe this would have been their big personality-clashing years of resentment reunion though.

so...saw a new pic when I logged in here tonight to peruse (sp?) through the threads...looks like it might be from Heart of Gold:
http://www.geocities.com/jborse/firefly/hog.html
Obviously, _someone_ has seen and screen captured from some of the remaining episodes. Why oh why can't they share them with the rest of us???

I also have to concure (again, not my greatest spelling day) that the gag reel rocked...and made me more eager than ever to see the remaining episodes :)

Isn't that a screenshot from Serenity? Mal says "Somebody's gotta make an honest living around here" and then there's a jump cut to that.

Not to put the kibbosh on the anticipation.

Your spelling looks shiny to me. Not that I'm an authority or anything.

Could be...I'll have to look back through Serenity. Its not a really big picture...but the reason I was thinking it was _HOG_ perhaps was because the person (pardon my crassness) on the bottom doesn't look like Inara...close, but not quite. ...Then again, perhaps its just wishful thinking :)

Pretty sure it's Inara in the Serenity ep. I'd say 99% sure, but I haven't watched it in a few days.

I better watch it again!

Succatash, I hope this gives you that 1% you need to be sure.
It is Inara in that picture. The man on top of her is the one who listened to her talk about home, and then left on a very cold, professional note.
Poor girl needs to get a real man who will care a little bit more about her.
