is any one here from australia and has bought the boxset for region 4 if so can u tell me the aspect ratio is it 4:3 or 16:9

the reason i'm asking this question is because if u buy firefly from amazon the aspect ratio is 16:9 but on the australian sites it says its fullscreen 4:3

i have a nice HD widescreen TV and i like to watch my movies and tv shows in widescreen i don't wanna buy the aussie disc if we get screwed on the aspect ratio

as far i as i know the show was actually shot in 16:9

if any one has any info on this subject please post oh and sorry if this has been brought up before i was rude and didn't check the older posts

Not promising that it is widescreen. But, I think you can relax. Amazon in the US had it listed as full frame. Needless to say I was very mad and canceled my preorder. When I finally saw the box in a store the box said anamorphic widescreen 1.76:1. Your version should be the same.

I live in Australia and I imported the US version and when it was released in Australia I went out and bought the Aus version so I would have a copy to lend out to people. I'm happy to tell you that both the US and Aus versions are in 16:9 Widescreen.

If you looking at buying an Aus copy you might want to wait until June 22, because EzyDVD will be selling it for $AU29.83.

Chances are that this set will be available for this price at other stores as well from June 22 onward.

LOTR widescreen discs are 16:9, I don't know about Firefly because they're not quire 4:3 but they aren't 16:9 either. Maybe it's just a trick of the tv...(I know mine distorts near the edges)

The Firefly DVDs are definitely 16:9 Anamorphic, because when I play them on my PC they play in widescreen with no black bars at the top and the bottom of the picture.

Also my projector is set up to display in 16:9 Anamorphic and the Firefly DVD image fits on the screen with out any black bars down the sides and across the top and bottom of the picture, which is what happens when you try to play something that is Letterboxed and not Anamorphic.

So, the Firefly DVDs are most definitely 16:9 Anamorphic Widescreen.

ok cool thanks guys seems they just made a mistake on the websites and/or on the packaging

can't wait for the movie

joss whedon is one of the most creative people in tv or film and the fact that this show got cancelled is disgraceful

p.s. i think CSI and law and order are in some sort of contest to see whcich show can have the most spin offs i thinks law and order is in the lead with 3 spin offs and one original series too bad they all look the same and for the most part they all seem to suck but having not really watched any of the shows i guess thats a little unfair
