CANTTAKESKY

I drove nearly 6 hours to Philadelphia for the May 26th screening, knowing that I had no ticket, but hoping maybe someone *might* have an extra one for sale. I knew the chances were nil, but I had made a trip of the weekend, and I just hoped against a snowball's chance in hell.

So there I was, loitering in the lobby of the theatre with 2 other browncoats, consoled by hanging out with other people who love the show as much as I do. This guy comes up and asks, "Why do you like Serenity so much?" We gushed, and he listened and left. A few minutes later, he came up again and said, "I want every seat in the theatre filled, and it looks like there are a few empty seats. I'll wait until the concession stands are empty and let you know." I made it a point that I drove 6 hours and I really wanted to see the movie and was willing to pay (I only brought $20 to keep anyone from exploiting my known weakness, but I didn't go into details.)

A few minutes after that, he came back out and motioned us to follow him. We couldn't believe our luck. I asked him if he worked for the theatre. He said, "No, I'm with the studio." I asked if we needed to pay, and he just waved us in. He took down the name of my town, and said he would put that in his report.

It turns out there were 4 front row seats left in the theatre that sat about 200. They got all filled. I cried, really cried, when Joss appeared on the screen.

I LOVE UNIVERSAL. I plan to throw money at them come opening weekend. Forget buying the DVD sets and giving money to FOX. I'm buying theatre tickets and giving money to Universal.

Important people don't do field work.

I just got the most wonderful image of someone throwing money at the Universal logo. I can't stop laughing!

Thanks, I needed that!

You lucky bastard!

On May 5, I and a few ticketless Browncoats were in the exact same boat. They were a group of 4, so their chances were really slim. It was all or nothing for them, but still, we stuck around to the bitter end hoping for a miracle.

We kept talking positive about a last minute reprieve from someone... a studio type, the theatre manager, a fan running late who had extra tics he hoped to put to use... .anything.

9:50 came and went.... We chatted nicely w/ a manager of the theatre, who must of thought were were a bit nuts. Nothing. No extra tickets.

10:04 came and went.... the manager wandered up...smiled..and casually went about his business.

No miracle that day.

Thankfully, the miracle came a couple of weeks later as those same Browncoats I waited w/ were able to score tickets for themselves...and ME!!!

That is a very shiny tale. I drove 6 hrs to see The Show too. Worth every minute. What a cool guy from Universal. It's good to know that They're out there looking out for Us. You have helped to restore my wavering faith in humanity.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Great story Canttakesky! Thanks for sharing it w/ us.

It is shiny that you got a chance to see the film after driving so far in the hopes of getting a ticket. Congrats.

I hope your ticket didn't come by way of dabbling in black market Beagles!

Very cool story. And you didn't even have to dance for the line and throw yourself headfirst into the wall for a ticket (couple of guys in DC did that.)

What a great story. I have to say I've heard nothing but good things about the Universal Execs. Our were very nice in Boston.

Did everyone else have the tight security we had in Boston?

No Beagles were harmed during the viewing of this "BD" movie.
