I am still recoiling from being called old.

Where did Doug go? He didn't last long, must have been scared off

I must apologise to Fray as well - I misread your earlier post and realised SimonWhoDareNotShowHisFaceInPublicForFearOfAGoodBeating is going to get it without the chocolate.

Anyway, I've just made a Banoffi Pie, does that count as news?

Edited to show SWs new exciting name!

I liked Doug - he had fried chicken....

But Banoffi Pie sounds good too!

OK, let's try & think of an excuse to keep this going. Who's got the whole of Friday off so will be at the hotel relatively early? (I have...!)

I have no idea when I am going due to the unfortunate problem of living in a different country. Unless I decide to go to England for a trip before the con then I will probably fly over on the Friday and get to the hotel about 4pm. Plan of action: Register, check-in, bar! The venue makes bars more complicated though because I don't know which areas they are allowing access to and whether they will set-up additional bars to cater for us. It is quite a snobby place and last time I went to a con there they tried to pretend we weren't there at all.

Here is the hotel factsheet:

I'll be getting there between 11/12?? Are you going by train Fray?

And didn't Doug have "Fried Chicen" cos he's slightly uneducated?

And Emma, I am very very sorry. I didn't mean it. It was a silly! You are young and beautiful, and let no fool tell you otherwise. Especially one that claims to be psychic!

What? A beating without any chocolate? That's not right.

Besides, I'm a hideously old 27 myself (28 in a month's time). I'm sure from PR's perspective I should be considering taking supplements to stave off glaucoma and moaning about cats in my garden.

Ah, to be 16 again. No, wait, 18, that was a much better year. Or possibly 17. No, 18. Definitely 18.

27 eh? We had an old man in our midst all this time...

Yep, I'll be going by train to Heathrow, then I suppose it's a taxi to the hotel. Guess nearer the time we can sort out whether it's convenient for any of us to meet at a station anyway and travel on together?

PR - I will not be a party to underage drinking!

I had my 30 something, somthing, somethingelse birthday at the end of May, so we`ve got a few decades between us in firefly fandom.

Guys going to the LF&CC, I may have a special badge, I`ve just got to get the wording right for the Hero of Canton song (you know the full version)

On the Serenity2 (how the hell do you get the 2 to shift anyway ) front, Browncoats must be worn at all times - you`ve got a few months to buy a suitable browncoat, I expect to see at least a few people weraing them, and of course November will be the idea weather for wearing them (not that I was swealtering @ Serenity Con One).

Something about the Serenity Chocolate Challenge - If people want, I would like to suggest a challenge for the bringing of Chocolate to the convention, the person who brings the best tasting chocolate to receive a prize (of course large amount of samples will need to be brought) - can anyone recommend chocolate for dipping? something easy to setup? Strawberries & Kaylee lookalikes available seperately

Just something about the threads, because these threads don`t last - perhaps if everybody bookmarks the page, we can keep it alive much easier - it`s eitrher that or do a monthly thread (i.s. this is the June Thread, next it will be July and so on until November) - Just an Idea

Darin (Zol.)

p.s. I forgot to add, I`m arriving on Saturday for the Con, couldn`t afford to stay an extra night , what with everything else going on upto this event Remember August Shindig will be selling tickets soon! www.browncoatevents.com

I hated being a teenager - my A Levels were the worst time I ever head (yucky). 28 was very cool though so SW (sorry your name is too damn long) you are in for a treat.

Fray, I will definitely see you at the bar. I go with my sister who drinks and dances alot (although last time she got told off by the DJs during BoRap for not dancing enthusiastically enough). She has lurked on here occasionally and is up for meeting anyone game for a laugh and not too serious. She is also obsessed with Kevin Spacey so you should get along just fine.

Rel, hurry up and book your holiday - we can't have any cock-ups!

PR, lemonade and vodka - yuck! Coke and Vodka is the way to go or even better red bull and vodka and if you fancy killing yourself before your next birthday tequila, vodka and red bull!

Now this chocolatey challenge/beating. I can bring a whole variety of Dutch chocolate but they don't really do bars so beating and dipping may be tricky. Any advice?

PS I had a thought (yes, yes it hurts). I could introduce people to the most disgusting Dutch concept in the world that makes chocolate gross - really it can be done.

Hagelslag, chocolate sprinkles (like the ice-cream and cake variety) you put on bread - yeuch

Well, the more different stuff, the better(?)

Did anyone see the life size chocloate Elton John in the UK Papers? I`m sorry, but apparently Summer is unavailable for modeling, although I hear `Jayne` is willing to get Nak`d

i have mentioned before i am a snob when it comes to chocolate - i reckon i could hunt down some of the best - but i may have to go undercover onto the dodgy streets of St Giles (the new underbelly of Soho)

I don't actually get the bit about the thread not lasting. OK, I can see that timewise they don't last that long but we've been starting regular new threads because we pass the 100 post mark so darned quickly on each one!

New threads are our gift to the broadbandless

Nonetheless, bookmarking is still a good idea seeing how quickly threads can get lost around here - especially if a new wave of US screenings should crop up!

yep, pretty sure this will be a fine long-lasting thread now Z has actually set a chocolate challenge. I can bring all sorts of weird chocolate: Droste, Hagelslag (of the tee hee - Van Dobben - variety) and a strange collection of different things from the department stores here - they all seem to have their 'own' chocolate. I shall find some funny shaped things and bring them.

Should it be a blind tasting to prevent Becs' snobbery (Leonidas is very cheap in Holland, so is Godiva and all manner of goodies - tee hee)? Should it be with score-pards - oooh, decisions, the excitement, the tension...ooohhh

Ummm, Emma?......(taps foot and frowns dangerously).... what precisely is wrong with hagelslag? I grew up with hagelslag! Two slices of bread with hagelslag every morning until I left for England which, by the way, is a very uncivilised country notable for its lack of hagelslag. Good thing the English have Cadbury's chocolate eggs, that helped

I suppose I will be able to recognise you at the con because you will be staggering around with your arms full of Leonidas, bags of hagelslag and white chocolate Chunky Kit Kats? (my latest discovery, a must!). Save some for me!

"My God - you're like a trained ape. Without the training."

You guys all have really screwy priorities *clears throat* You know what's nicer and way more addictive than chocolate?

Oranges. And strawberries. And pineapples. And mangos. And grapes. And watermelon. And...

Phoebe - are you talking about things to mix with vodka? Because we'll have none of that filthy "healthy fruit" talk around here...

PSYCHICRIVER

Ooh I found it Fray! Don't quite get what I have to do with it, but meh! That is a long thread, couldn't find you for ages, and then I had to catch up on all our other threds over there, it's an exciting time with LFACC just around the corner, eh?

PsychicRiver

"Two by two, hands of blue."
"We'll take care of each other. I'll knit!"

Summer Glau to me - "You are so photogenic."

But... but... fruit. Vodka? No. I don't drink, even though I am 18 LOL.

Fruit is my chocolate. Fruit is my alcohol. Fruit is my... healthy cigarette

Well unless you've had TWO birthdays since we last spoke, you're still under 18 aren't you?! I saw the thread and just thought of you!

OK Phoebe, I suppose fruit is OK....but chocolate's nicer! Ooh, fruit dipped in chocolate - that's good too! You know, my best friend can't stand the thought of fruit and chocolate together. I just can't imagine going through life without Jaffa Cakes...

Oops, seem to have wandered off thread again...where's Emma to back me up?

SIMONWHO

Oooh, photos, not so keen on those. Not that I'm a horror to behold, more that I have actually recognised the occasional person who I've only seen on the Internet and it's a bit weird (no offence twg). I just don't like having a publicly identifiable record of myself (those of us who were 7 in 1984 seem to be particularly keen to stay off the grid).

However, maybe, just maybe, I'll allow you to take a picture of me eating chocolate at Serenity2.

Plus I'll be bringing my personal favourites too, you wouldn't want to miss out on that.
