Just came back from Batman Begins - wow. That was awesome. But that's not what I want to talk about - the Serenity trailer ran before the movie!! I nearly jumped out of my frelling skin!!! So of course I hooped and hollered and clapped when it was done. Not much reaction from the crowd after the trailer - but then I was a little preoccupied so maybe I missed it. But right as it began to run, I was not the only one who gasped !

I am soooooooo nuts for Thursday now!!!

wohoo!!!

just got back meself from a 7 PM showing of Batman begins (good movie, by the way), and the trailer was attached!!!!

Yes, THE trailer.

When I first saw the shot of Serenity going through atmo, I thought, "huh, I always liked that shot"

Then it hit me.

I wasn't watching it on my computer.
I wasn't watching it on the SVCD that I had burned to be able to show it to people.
I was watching it in a theater. With other people.

So I whooped. And raised my hands. And I nudged the gf (pics seen here http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=4065 and here http://www.fireflyfans.net/sunroomitem.asp?i=4080 ). She noticed it, and whooped and hollered louder than me.

Then I mouthed every word of the trailer.

When it was over, we both clapped, whooped, raised our hands, and generally made the rest of the crowd wonder what we were smoking.

I was pumped.
The gf was pumped.
You should get pumped!

You got the Serenity trailer? All I got was that dumbass trailer 'bout an evil robotic stealth plane!

Seriously, damn. I saw that cognizant-but-without-moral-judgement stealth fighter for the fourth time when I could have seen Serenity. I'm in Northern Jersey, by the way. Anyone 'round here have some good luck?

Just saw Batman Begins here in Norman, OK, and there was no Serenity trailer attached to it. I guess that's ok...seeing as how I thought the actual movie was pretty damn good. (=

Well, I saw it at a Marcus theatre, so maybe that has something to do with it? I know they don't ship the trailers out to every theatre. (Shakopee, MN, Marcus Theatre, screen 4).

Just thinking of it now gives me goosebumps! I wanted to cry, I was so excited - and I swear, my heart was racing during it! And it just looked so purty up there .

There really isn't anything that compares to a theatre screen...

Well, I saw it at the Irving Mall AMC 14 in Irving, TX, if that helps anyone out there.

Just a quick note, if your theater has more than one screen showing a movie that is reported to have a trailer attached that you would like to see. (our bdm in this case) they can usually tell you if you give the box office a call before you go. Just ask if it is attached to any of the screenings and go to one in that theater. That's what i did for hitchhikers and it worked great.

A friend of mine saw the midnight showing right when Batman came out, and when I talked to him about it, he said that the Serenity trailer he saw wasn't the one we've all seen a hundred times. He said it was a new trailer, and one that, he felt, was vastly superior.

Has anyone else noticed a 2nd trailer for the film? Is it available on the internet and I just haven't come across it?

I was on Whedonesque a little while ago and there's an article about a con in England that's advertising that it'll be premiering the new, "edgier" preview, so yeah, there's another version on the way. Maybe one theater here jumped the gun?

I saw the trailer when I saw Hitchhiker and it was the same one that's online.
Now I really want to know if the Batman Begins one is a different trailer!!!
Also, did it mention a release date at the end????

A friend just emailed me this morning about seeing the Serenity trailer before Batman Begins. And get this, he says the date attached to the trailer was JULY 29, 2005!!! If they are showing new trailers, it could be possible they changed the date of widespread release. Has anyone else seen this??

OMG! Will someone please verify this?

Also, want to know if there's anyone in Vancouver, BC who has seen Batman Begins and can tell whether the trailer was attached to it here?

WHEDONESQUE

I saw Batman Begins at the Loew's 34th Street in Manhattan last night. I thought the movie was very good. And I jumped and gasped when the trailer started and several people clapped when it finished. Also, the group of people behind us were talking about it during the next preview (for the dumb stealth thingy), saying that it looked cool and one of the guys told the others that it was based on a tv show by Joss Whedon. They weren't Browncoats or anything, but they did seem interested in seeing it. The trailer was the same one that I've seen online. I don't remember seeing any release date at the end... I could have just not noticed it because I have September 30th embedded in my brain. I'm sure I would have noticed if it had said July 29th, though.

Yeah, it was outside of Cleveland Tuesday night at midnight. Or, Wed. morning at midnight. You know what I mean.

My friend really enjoyed the series (I gave it to him this past Christmas) but was underwhelmed by the first trailer. I recall him saying that if he hadn't watched Firefly, he wouldn't really want to see the movie based on the trailer.

This one, however, he was ecstatic about. Gushing, even, saying that it was leaps and bounds above the first. I'm pumped to see it now. I suppose (responding to someone else upthread) that it's possible this theater jumped the gun on the new trailer...

The trailer I saw was the same one we've all seen - don't know how to differentiate, but it's what I call the "aim to misbehave" trailer. There was nothing new about it. There was NO date attached to it.

Sorry if I repeat post this in a bunch of places. It's just easiest.

So I saw Batman Begins. And it was *awesome*.

The Serenity trailer was attached - I was beside myself. Unfortunately it didn't have as much impact on the audience as one could have hoped for. The volume was quieter as it usually is for trailers. It was the 5th or 6th trailer (and these come after all the product ads too), so people were just wanting the movie to start. But, people did stop talking, and there were a few small laughs at the right moments. So. I'm just pleased it's really out there now!

The trailer was exactly as the current online version, only saying "THIS FALL" at one point and no date.

By the way, this is the Silvercity Riverport theatre in Richmond, BC, Canada.

"Yesterday in Huntington WV the Marquee theater showed Batman Begins. The Serenity preview showed before the movie and announced a 7/29/05 show date."

This is exactly the same theatre where my friend saw the July 29th date. Now I never posted on Whedonesque, and I never named the town in WV, so whoever sent this is independently verifying the date attached to the trailer. My hypothesis is this might be the only theatre in the country to have "leaked" this trailer.

My friend has confirmed 4 times in email that he saw this, he did not make a mistake, he did not confuse it with another trailer. We can make of it whatever we want.
