Wimbledon starts this week coming, and I thought I would start a thread about who out of the Firefly `Crew` (Only) would be good tennis players.

Here`s my list in no particular order

Jayne - Most likely to shoot the other contestant for hitting a tennis ball towards him at high speed
Mal - Would be like John Macenroe and shout `Bwah!` everytime he hits the ball
Morena - she would be pretty fit & a very diplomatic player
Book - would use his hair to intimidate the opposition, but due to his age, he wouldn`t be as energetic as the others
River - well, she would win outright as she can read peoples minds and predict with hard math where the ball is to go
Wash - would be a showoff, juggling the balls and saying to everyone,"Some people juggle Geese"
Zoe - She would give it her all, but would lose if playing Mal, due to her loyalty to him
Simon - wouldn`t be able to loosen up enough to be a competent player, however, he would be a good ball boy
Kaylee - would use her cuteness and bubbly charm to overcome her opponents.

The other thing, as a doubles game, Simon & River, Mal & Inara, Wash & Zoe, Jewell & Jayne - who would come out as top?

Darin (Zol.)

I'm not much of a tennis person (golf would be my sort of thing), but I think the Tams would be very good at tennis. Tennis more of an elitist sport anyways, so they would definitly know how to play the game. Everyone else would be good at it.

Now as for golf, I figured the Tams, Book, Zoe and Inara would have the self-discipline and patience for golf. Kaylee and Wash would suck immensely at it, but like the idea of being outdoors in a lush, green environment and not care if they're triple the par. Mal and Jayne would get frustrated by it too easily. And Jayne would go so far as to load his ball into one of his guns and just fire the ball at the hole, miss by a few dozen yards and tear up the out of bounds to just find it.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

I can't see Inara doing anything in front of the crew that would cause her to raise a sweat. If so, Mal would partner with Kaylee, and Jayne with Book. Doubles does not require as much stamina as singles.

Simon & River would dominate, because they've played the game before, and probably doubles together. But @Wimbledon, with Book as his partner, Jayne would play in blackface.

Your post makes me wonder if you understand the characters at all.
Zoe is far beyond the Junior High School thought process of "Don't beat a boy at athletics, let him win."
Zoe would play to win. Zoe would win. Loyalty? What the heck does loyalty have to do at losing at tennis rather than beating the pants off Mal?
..... Sorry ... I was lost in the thought of the pants beaten off of Mal. Where was I?...

Oh yeah. I would put the Tams against Wash and Zoe. THAT would be a good match. I'll be in the stands sitting in the lap of pantsless Mal.

"I'm gonna rip you a new puppet hole, bitch!"
