That site is a total crock. I doubt the validity of the magazines based on that the site looks like it was thrown up in a day, is sprinkled with irrelevant Firefly items, and has no SSL. Basically means any order you make on the site is guaranteed to NOT be secure.

That site is not a crock or a scam as far as I know. The guy that owns the shop is a Browncoat and sells many things we Browncoats like. He/she has been advertising here and on the official Serenity Board for quite some time and many people haven't had a problem with it.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

My mistake then. However he should validate his site and protect his customers by setting up SSL. Seems very shady and unsafe not to have it.

Paine:

The difference is that the preview version everyone's been paying big bucks for -- and in general losing their minds to see -- is not the same movie as will be released in theatres on or about September of 2005. Hence, there are two versions of the magazine. Different endings and plot twists.

Film makers routinely shoot 'alternative endings' and scenes for their movies. Check your DVD collections for 'Bonus Materials'. Some may cry foul when the movie comes out, having spent some time and money to be misled thus; but, it's fair game, since the preview screenings have all come with the caveat that it's an unfinished movie. That some have interpreted this to mean that only score, SFX and color timings need finishing is their fault, not the studio's or Joss'.

The beauty part is that this makes all the spoilers and speculation moot. Ultimately, no one but Joss (and possibly the studio) knows exactly what's going to transpire by the movie's end. He's hoodwinking us for our own sake.

Of course, I could be totally wrong. But, I've got a sneaking suspicion, made stronger by this 'two magazines' evidence. I believe most of the movie will remain the same in its final release version, with the exception of one or two scenes (*lays finger alongside nose and winks at the wise*)...

Speculatively,

zoid

P.S.
Yes, Joss has said the film is 'locked'; but he hasn't said the previews are of the locked version of the movie.

P.P.S.
I further predict that someone will very soon claim this idea as their own and spread it to other websites thus. Can't stop the signal, baby.

The difference is the cover. They do the same thing for the Buffy and Angel magazines. There is a newsstand cover and a comic shop cover. The comic shop is only available through Diamond Comic's Previews Catalog.

It has nothing to do with the preview screenings.

The Blue Sun room has pictures of the 2 covers:

I was all ready to order 3 magazines for $27.00 (more or less) right up until the site wanted over $10 in shipping. What's wrong with this picture? Sorry, even if the seller is a Browncoat I won't pay over a third more for shipping.

That site is indeed lacking any https:// encryption of user accounts which is a little dodgy in terms of security. I'm surprised it hasn't been bought up before.

Zol - it's nothing to do with the ending of the movie changing, to clarify. Serenity is now rated as PG-13 (see serenitymovie.com frontpage) by the MPAA and the print is locked which means, basically, it ain't changing now.

All Payment Via Credit Card is done through Paypal and Paypal is secure.

Also All Items on my Site are 100% real and will be available. I hope once I ship out the first issues of the comics people will be able to step in and prove to you it is no fraud.

Sorry, you feel that way, but how did you choose the items to be shipped? Also the Dreamwatch magazine ships sooner than the 2 Serenity the Magazines. So it 2 seprate shipments. If you want me to hold the Dreamwatch Magazine to ship with the Serenity Magazines I can give you a discount on shipping.

Yes, some states outside the US dont register. I am working this problem out. I think it has something to do with choosing the State and other state in the US states section.

Please email me your Address and it will help me work out this bug. info@258west.com

You really need to get your site updated then. There are still sections of your site where you enter personal information that is not in SSL. Many people won't go past that part because of lack of SSL.

I agree, I have been working hard to update things. I am in the process of implementing a order status section as well as a product registration for the Authentic Autographs. Every Autograph will come with a unique serial number you can register on the site. Site is only a couple months old and I am working hard to upgrade it and work out all the bugs. So your guy’s feedback is key.

I think we have figured it out. You have to make sure that under state you select None Other State. Then Type in the State or province in the space below under other state. We are fixing it to make it more user friendly though.

Hi 258
Thanks for coming back to me with a response because I would love to order the magazines. I can certainly wait for one delivery in Oct. The method that came up with the $10+ was from the little pull down choices and I think it said USPS Priority. I really don't need priority, so if you can reduce the postage I have no problem ordering.
Thanks!

I changed to the postage to see OZ's and also to include Media Mail.

Before the system in place had 1lbs as the min per item. So 4 comics was 4 lbs instead of 8 oz.

So shipping should be down to no more than $6

Just wanted to let you all know, you can also preorder these from TFAW.com (things from another world). If you preorder them, they are only 8.99 and you can have them sent to you bagged and boarded for an extra 25 cents an issue. Shipping, for 2-4 day priority is only 3.95 for me as well.

Someone asked if you could get them somewhere else.
