Anyone seen a SERENITY movie poster yet?

America loves a winner!

I just got back from checking out Batman Begins. Decent flick, btw. And yes, the trailer for our BDM did show *yay!* but after the movie, I did a bit of checking. There's a poster or big cardboard display for just about everything coming out, but I didn't see a damn thing for Serenity. What's up w/ that ? I know there are movies that premier later than Sept. 30th that have their posters up. Is this just a theatre by theatre thing, or is 'Versal behind schedule here.

I want answers now, or I want them EVENTUALLY!

last year i think it was this poster was the one that was being seen @ cons, though i take it it's changed since?

Yeah, but have you seen it posted up at any theatres?? That's kinda the point I was tryin' to make. All these movies coming out ...some later than Sept. 30th..have big posters and displays. As of Sunday afternoon, not a gorram thing for SERENITY.

i think it'll come with time. i know it's september and it's pretty soon, and dont shoot me for saying this, i know serenity is the BDM of the year ... but... it's not a huge movie in terms of stars and etc. fairly unknown. please dont shoot me and brandish me a traitor, just trying to think more logically. i'm sure poster will prolly begin to appear in august.

I know what you're saying, but have you SEEN the crap that's being advertised out there ? I just figured that in a threatre w/ 24 screens and all that wall space, there'd be some place they could find for SERENITY.

Word is that the Serenity poster should be completed by next week. So we'll probably see the finished product not too long after that.

Very curious to see what Universal comes up with...

I know there are a lotta crappers out there, but it's the way of the biz. If those movies have at least one big name in it it'll get the advertised to death.

as early as next week? that'll be good. i've still got my fingers crossed that with war of the worlds release, serenity will get some promotion, both are distributed by UIP.

Posters in the US, not UK, to clarify - although we'll get posters soon.

Universal have put the posters through market research recently. They've designed 4, and they're picking the one with the best feedback (they did the same with the trailer).

Odds are on one with River central, Mal looking pissed off on the right, with words like "Fugitive" and "Traitor" branded on it, with a space background. There's 3 others, though, so you know - could be any.

Obviously Universal need to find a sales pitch which works well with different types of people here, and they need to take a bit of time to do that. Give it another month or two and I strongly suspect you'll see things kicking off big time in terms of marketing the film - they don't want to jump in too early and get the pitch wrong. And that's very wise.

taking their time with it is definitely a good move. as much as we love our firefly, serenity is still a big risk.
