We always talk about our Favorite TV series, but what, in your opinion are some of the WORST?

My personal picks are:

1.) Everyone Loves Raymond
2.) Anything starring Jason Alexander
3.) The King of Queens
4.) FAT ACTRESS
5.) OPRAH
6.) Yes Dear

I generally try to avoid the absolute worst that television has to offer (I have a good bullshit detector), but one show when I watched it that I absolutely could not stand was SEX AND THE CITY. I know, I know it's suppsoed to be this high pinnacle of quality, but maybe it's because I'm a guy, but I couldn't take it after the first few eps. Five minutes of it, and I felt like I was OD'ing on estrogen with a glucose chaser.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

Easy. The 3 worst TV shows ever are

3) Family Matters (this is the one w/ Urkel, right?)

2) Full House (I want all of them to die.)

1) 7th Heaven.

WOW! I guess I had erased these "gems" from my memory

Here is what I think these shows should have been called if there was such a thing as truth in television:

3) Family Don't Matter (AKA: "Urkel's Hood")

2) Full Diaper (Also known as "Load of Crap")

I never could figure out why people thought that Bob Saget was funny.

1) 7th Circle of Hell

You had some good picks too (I hate Raymond). Pretty much anything with a laugh track sucks ass.

Well, his cameo in Half Baked helps, although nothing can really redeem a career based on Full House and "funny" home videos.

Gotta chime in here - these things are doubly offensive because of an inherent sadism in most garbage TV.

I dunno about you folk, but *I* do not find other peoples pain, humiliation and misery funny, period.

To not only make a joke of it, but to run a laugh track overtop in an insinuation that not only is this crapola supposed to be funny, but also that the audience is too flamin stupid to realize that it's funny...

Sick, man... sick - the mere SOUND of a laughtrack makes me look for things to throw at the television.

I can't even stand to LOOK at one anymore, even when it's off - what's that say?

Grrrr!!

I second (third) anything with a laugh track (with a very small hand full of exceptions). Every time I’m forced to watch a show like Yes Dear or King of Queens ETC I just sit there confused as to what’s funny. Oh the fat guy is acting like a stereotypical football obsessed American male, funny… The stereotypical weak “smart” (Knowing smart people and being one my self I can tell the guy from Yes Dear is not smart) person is scared oh haha…

British TV has had some real stinkers too like Come Back Mrs Noah and Honey for Tea. You'd probably not credit the BBC too much for My Hero either.

You should watch some of the rejected pilots that got the MST3K treatment. There was one incredibly bad one called Agent for H.A.R.M. that defies belief, all played dead straight.

And now Joss has abandoned the medium. Woe, woe, thrice woe.

Oof. Does it make me a horrible person? Well, depending on the circumstances... I don't like the beating up of a sympathetic character a la Ben Stiller in Meet the Parents (which was HORRIBLE). But Dodgeball, on the other hand, is absolutely hilarious. And most of that movie is non-stop nut-shots.

On a related note, Ben Stiller should always play villians.

I also had your opinion of Mr. Saget until he was on Comic Relief several years ago. I rolled my eyes when he was announced, expecting a lame bunch of recycled jokes from "America's Funniest Home Videos". So imagine my surprise when he had me laughing hysterically, making fun of "Full House", his young daughter's repetitive watching of "The Wizard of Oz" and several other items. He was on a roll, but was as far removed from his persona on the sitcom. His stand-up act is incredibly lewd, profanity-laced, and the very antithesis of what most of America has come to know him as. He also just did a guest spot on HBO's Entourage as the pot-smoking, skirt-chasing new neighbor of the lead character. Seek out some of his stand-up. It'll change your opinion of Bob Saget.

The two examples you give for "Reality" TV Shows are far from "Reality". These two shows, along with all of their clones are totally "scripted" by the producers. Not a single one of these shows actually consumated in a real marriage! Some of these "ladies" would send a normal guy running. I think the worst shows are any of the reality shows also. Imean they aren't real. You stick a bunch of people on an island or in a house and have them outlast each other? In reality you have to work or go to school or something. At least in mine anyways.

I read the first few posts and thought 'omg, how can people have left out reality shows'?

Reality shows are the lowest, most demeaning (both to the participants and the audience) means of mass entertainment that may ever have graced humanity. (which is easy to say because TV hasnt been around all that long)

As for the listed shows that were scripted.... the laugh track stuff sucks, though for some reason I ended up watching a lot of Home Improvement back when it was on. Not sure why at this particular moment. It was funny because everyone knew Tim would screw up, it wasn't a surprise, you didnt need to guess. Eh, it was decent at least.

Yes there are a few laugh track shows that were good. Home Improvement was fairly decent, they had real people from the Army, Navy and NASA made guest appearances and Wilson always gave a little bit of actually helpful wisdom. Although I can't stand the show now I liked it when it was new.

You also got to count M*A*S*H as one of the best comedies despite its laugh track. I never paid much attention to the laugh track on the show since it was so good by its self.

DROCCULARI

I realize it has a cult following these days, but it's got to be, "Gilligan's Island." Believe me, I was there. Three networks, one black and white TV in the family room, no such thing as a remote control. The show was deadly, mind numbingly dull -- and stupid. It was the definition of lowest common denominator. It wasn't alone of course, there were other pathetically bad shows: The Beverly Hillbillies, Petticoat Junction, Bonanza, to name a few, but GI was my personal TV nemesis. I made it my mission in life to convince my parents and brother that either of the other two choices had to be better, whatever they were! Alas, I failed and was driven into a isolated life of reading Science Fiction until something good came on. And then, one day, there was FIREFLY!
OK... I'll stop now.

If we're not excluding "reality" TV, then the absolute, hands-down, most hideous idea for a television show ever:

The Swan.

Cutting people who are average looking to make them "model beautiful" for the amusement of others? That show made me lose faith in humanity.

Now, excluding reality television, of the shows that I've seen (I don't watch much), I'd have to go with Sliders. Not the original few seasons of Sliders, but post-Sci-Fi-Channel Sliders. You know, when everyone but poor Rembrandt Brown had left? It's the worst only because Sci-Fi took such a great show and made it instantly suck. I was so overjoyed to see it back on the air, and then they totally made it lame.

Saaad.

The reason I asked is because that movie is the only other time I have seen FAHQ. Ben Affleck's character O'Banion had it painted on a paddle he was using to torment freshmen. The movie is one of my all time faves. Very funny. You should definitely check it out.

I most fervently hope that I have successfully avoided the worst shows.

But of the dreck I have stumbled across....

Seinfeld, despite featuring the hilarious Michael Richards after his turn in UHF.
Sex in the City, despite Kim Cattral.
Real Housewives of wherever.
Batwhaamyn.
All of the Prime Time gameshows.
The Jimmies and Co-bare.
Oprah (who informed America that, by 1990, 1/3 of the world population would be dead from the AIDS hoax)
Modern Family, despite Alexandra Daddario and Al Bundy.
All of the cartoons, except rare episodes of Simpsons.
