Kevin Guyer from "The Week in Whedon" podcast ( http://malkith.org/wiw) put together some basic questions you can use to quiz the folks who borrow your Firefly DVDs. This way you can be sure they watched!

I highly recommend sodium pentathol instead, particularly if your friend hates pop quizzes and likes needles.

I think a more Jayne-esc approach would yield quicker results. A cattle prod (with fresh Energizer batteries) to the genitals always gets the truth!

It's easy to tell. I lend my friends the first DVD. When they come back and beg to borrow the rest of them, I know they watched the first one. If they don't, I know they're not worth being friends with anymore.
