I'm watching Sci-Fi now (Pacific time) and they just finished the new Friday night preview show...did I already miss it? :(

They showed it once, at the first ad in SG-1, and then again - don't remember when on that one - I think it was in BG.

It was a very good one - original ad, hadn't seen it before. They're pushing it during their BIG SHOWS, folks!

I have to say, it was an amazing feeling to see the first Firefly ads since the bad ol' (or is it good ol'?) Fox days. We fans didn't even have to PAY for them!

I just saw it -- was during the 1st commercial break for the Stargate SG 1 season premiere.

they seemed to be running it once per hour throughout their big Friday night line up...
and I thought it was a kick-ass ad!

I also saw at least one crawl during the show...

so they are stepping up the advertising (about time)

MONTANAGIRL

On the one hand, I'm glad to finally see an ad. (And a pretty good one.) On the other, during three hours of SciFi premiers tonight I only saw it twice (during SG-1 and BSG). I was really hoping that they'd hit it harder than that on their biggest night. I had to sit through the same three movie ads about six times each during the same time period.

I saw the ad again, during the Monday night Stargate marathon. Looks better than the original Fox "girl in a box" promo, closer to the show's actual premise.

EDIT - Saw it again, a bit over an hour later. Not quite as often as the ads for their (IMHO) lame Saturday "original" movies, but I'm getting a good vibe here people....

They're definitely playing it more tonight (Monday) than they did on Friday night. They've been playing it during the end credits of every episode of SG-1 tonight, and I've seen it a few times during regular commercial breaks too. So I'm feeling a little better about things.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I saw the promo on Friday night during the Sci Fi Friday line up, and again tonight during the SG1 Monday marathon.

The promo looks excellent, and keeps close to the shows premise, far more so than Fox did back in '02. Looks like Sci Fi understands Firefly and are doing a fair job of promoting the show. Hopefully as we get closer to this Fridays premiere of the first part of "Serenity" we will see more ad spots.

MUGTWAINE

I remember wondering why they wouldn't start the show last Friday along with their big premieres. Then I realized it was because they wanted to plug it on a night when they had really high viewership.

It's actually much better this way. If you think about it, probably a lot of people don't even bother with sci-fi except for when they have new episodes on Friday nights, because otherwise its mostly cheesy original movies. If they had premiered Firefly last week, nobody would have seen the ads to know that it was beginning, then they wouldn't have watched this week because they would have said "Well, I missed the beginning so I won't know what's going on..."

Seems to me Sci-Fi knows what they're doing. They are championing our show, and finally we have someone who seems to respect it. I'm very excited. Serenity could be big.

FOURSKYS

Personally, I'm crossing my fingers and waiting expectantly for the SciFi all day Firefly marathon where they have interviews with cast and crew, talking about their favorite episodes, and promoing the movie. Seems like the weekend before the movie premiers would be a good weekend. 15 hours of firefly where half of the commercial breaks are cast interviews and Serenity previews. Man, I hope they do something cool. I mena, universal owns SciFi, right? It's in both of theirbest interests...
