Hi all,

Just a quick infoburst to say that the Fantable at Birminghams NEC for the Memorabelia Event 13th & 14th August 2005 is being organised, and is well on the way to being a great event.

For details on this and more, check out the following websites

http://www.memorabilia.co.uk/ - 2 day event featuring many stalls, guest stars & lots to see and do

http://www.browncoatevents.com/ - for the Shindig & Fantable details

If you would like to attend or help out &/or contribute please get in touch.

And remember there`s other things going on at the Memorabelia event too, but let`s make the Borwncoat presence felt there too.

I won`t post 2 replies to your questions

We haven`t actually got a set plan at the moment for the evening but there is a room & a projector/screen available + food can be laid on (buffet).

Hopefully Andy(Fade2Black) will have more info, the prices haven`t been set but an overnight stay in the hotel is about £20 (Don`t know if that includes breakfast or whether breakfast is extra)

Hopefully in the nxt month, we can get some info on costs and such, but the more the merrier, it`s a great chance to get the word out prior to the release of the film.

My only worry at the moment, is that the *possible* UK Screenings would clash, but the screenings are not confirmed (although one in the birminghma area would work out quite nicely )

keep checking the website & message posts for info & updates on who/what/why/when & how.

I'll try and get there but my son wants to go to the Dr Who exhibition instead.

I'm mainly wanting to go to say hi to "buttmonkey" from Oxford and "Heather" from Swindon. I don't know any other Browncoats nearby!

P.S. Shouldn't this be a flantable?

I think the challenge will be to convert your son to a full browncoat .

It will be great to see as many people as possible who can make it, with UIP in attendance you never know what might happen

the fantable is over 2 days, so if you can`t make one day and you live close by it will be worth the trip.

SLAYERFEST

Hi I just thought I would give my tuppence worth here.

This is the first event sponsored by UIP to promote the movie Serenity. Although it has been set up by and funded by Browncoats, UIP realise that the passion is all-important to the promotion of the movie.

This event will not clash with any proposed screenings of the movie also being promoted by UIP.

HOWEVER, they aim to use it as an opportunity to spread the word among NON-Browncoats and are hoping that we Browncoats will do out bit for the cause.

We aim to push the movie by running the trailers on our table using a TFT tv to show people exactly how good this movie will be. Additionally, we will be selling and/or giving away merchandise from the movie. Some of it is official and some of it is fan made.

As we all know the movie NEEDS your help to get the word out there. It is unlikely that people will simply just stroll into the cinema to see it unless there is a real buzz about it and that is where the Browncoats can come into it. We have 10,000 potential converts attending the Memorabilia event.

PLEASE COME AND GIVE SOME TIME BY HANDING OUT FLYERS AROUND THE EVENT AND SHOWING YOUR ENTHUSIASM FOR THE SHOW/MOVIE.

The shindig on the Saturday night is simply to give Browncoats something to do overnight between the two days on the stand. We will be meeting and getting to know Browncoats from around the UK.

We will also have some fan videos that are rarely seen as they are not available on the internet. There will be the chance to dress up in your best fancy dress gear and enjoy the company of fellow flans.

Our raffle has a couple of amazing prizes one being a full-weekend pass to Serenity the Flanvention in LA in December, another being a signed cast shot with 9 amazing autographs on it obtained courtesy of Summer Glau. We also have items signed by Summer herself too.

All profits from this event will go directly to charity.

I REPEAT, PLEASE COME AND GIVE YOUR TIME TO MAKE THIS A HUGELY SUCCESSFUL PROMOTION UNLIKE THE DEBACLE OF THE LONDON FILM AND COMIC CON. UIP WANT THIS TO BE A SUCCESS AND SO DO THE CAST THEMSELVES.

Andy has stepped into high gear with promoting the event and has now advertised it on the Starfury Yahoo Group (courtesy of Sean, who has also donated stuff)

I don`t know if there is an upper limit to attendees, I think the shindig is in a biggish conferance room and tyhe more the better.

If you intend to stay in the hotel, it`s £20 per night per person (based on 2 people sharing) - Double Shiny may be looking to share as without it`s nearly £40 per night for a single room.

visit www.browncoatevents.com for details on the yahoo group and htoel & venue details - in fact everything you need to know

btw, the 1st batch of 10x Jayne Cobb Hatrs have arrived these will be offered on a 1st come 1st served basis, but if you klet Andy know when you buy a ticket, you may be able to reserve a hat for a slightly reduced price.

Thanks to all who are supporting this event in their own very individual ways, it really is a team effort and although I am runnung round like an idiot right now, I am assured that we can get a good enough showing to attend the event.

I have been asked about teh raffle and whether it is open to non-attendees of the shindig. At the moment the answer is no because we want to encourage attendance because as the lottery says - you have to be in it to win it.

We have TWO conventions offering free tickets to meet our BIG DAMN HEROES! One in the UK and one in the USA. Please look and see if there is a real reason why you might not be able to attend. Otherwise, if you want the movie to be a success then join us in annoying the hell out of people until they agree to attend the cinema in October!

This is definitely looking very tempting. Though I would basically be showing up just to linger around the fantable, since there's no guests I'd be all that interested in seeing. That might change once I got there, though.

I wonder if my badges will have arrived by then?

What's the timeframe for the shindig? Start and finish times, I mean.

New Update,

I didn`t get any tickets :( but some good news!

If you fancy a fan made replica of Mal`s Pistol or even Jayne`s pistol, SloopyJon has kindly allowed us to sell them on his behalf.
If you haven`t seen the quality of these replicas, I have one which I had at the Serenity Con at the end of April - you can see on here -

No definite price for the pistols at the moment, it `should` be under £100 - but we will need to get the price confrimed 1st.

Also at the fantable there`s going to be Badges too and hopefully some really funky stuff, includiong artwork for sale, and hopefully lots of UIP Serenity gooodies too.

ok -
given we crashed the edinburgh film festival website and made the national press i think its time to hit the accelerator

actually just having the film screening in edinburgh is a pretty big deal for what many might see as 'an american sci-fi movie'

so the chance to impress people at memorabilia is pretty dynamite - also a pretty decent way to spend a saturday night with our fellow browncoats

This is the main reason for getting together, to show your support, and tell people about the fact that this was a wrongly cancelled TV show that it proved so successful with DVD sales and word of mouth & fans (including the cast & crew) that a Film has been made that proves good things don`t die they pass on to bigger and better things.

gotta keep this thread flying - seems like it was killed off by the reandom monkeys brigade but here's the deal

firefly fans have a table inside one of the biggest events in the UK just as Serenity is coming onto the radar - we will be wearing strange costumes, accosting the public and generally having a good time (oh and raising money for chariteee) - anyone in the UK who can pop in and say hi we're gonna have one of the best damn stalls, one of the best damn raffles and a mighty fine shindig - and even if it annoys the hell outta everyone else we're gonna keep this thread bumped

all the details you need are above i believe if not just ask and i'm sure it can be done

If you run any sort of website or event relating to Firefly or Joss Whedon's work why not advertise it at the Memorabilia Serenity Fan Table at the NEC in Birmingham, England? Simply bring as many leaflets/flyers as you want and we will ensure that they are placed on the table and direct fans to them and your site. How hard can that be?

If you cannot be there and are willing to send them to me (and think that they will arrive BEFORE I leave early Friday morning) email me (andy@summerglau.co.uk )about sending them and I will atke them to the event. Unfortunately we will not be able to print up any flyers for you so you would need to pay the cost of production yourself.

All in all though it should be an excellent opportunity to market related sites.

Andy
