Fresh thread for the Premiere.

Anyone know who will be attending yet? It sounds like Joss is a cert but if this really is a Gala Premiere, I'd expect a fair few stars too (and not just our BDH's).

I agree, Chris Buchanan and David Newman (the music composer) should definitely be there, maybe along with some of the film production and camera folks.

SimonWho, you're going, yes? Is IamZoe going, too? Be a real shame if she didn't!

Can't make it myself, holiday already booked.

Stay shiny...

Everyone who's off to the Premiere on the Monday, we're organising a wee shindig on the Monday night after the screening, and I'll post more details nearer the time.

I don`t know why I booked my hotel room now drinking to the wee `ours of the mornin`

I`m actually looking froward to having a good drink and a great natter among people who can actually talk about it.

Hope you find a suitable venue, Pixel will probably be able to help on that front.

Hello CapnEric! I did indeed get a ticket. Shame you can't make it.

Are there any plans to meet before or after? I know the cinema very well as I used to live round the corner and work across the road - there's a bar next to it called McCowan's (I think that's the name) which does nice food and good drinks, and a Pizza Hut next to that.

During the festival, they often lay out a real red carpet outside the entrance to this cinema, and stars are expected... plus the audience get to feel a bit special as they trapise in. It's a good cinema for previews; they do a French film festival too. I saw a good Q & A with a director at the last one; a film called 'Arsene Lupin'.

Double Shiny is planning an all nighter shindig with drinking after the showing (location & Time TBA)

I`m going to be coming up sometime in the afternoon by train, my room is about 10 mins away from cinema, so that will be cool.

Looking forward to it (thanks to a very nice person who posts on here for the ticket )

an all-nighter? Well, Edinburgh during the festival is the place to do it. Any ideas where people are going? Is it another thread somewhere? I don't live in Edinburgh right now, but I did for a wee while, and I could recommend some good drinking / dancing places.

Thanks for this info I was starting to be concerned that my tickets haven't arrived yet. I'm a W so it makes sense they haven't come. I am seriously considering changing my name to Aardvark

Looking forward to meeting everyone in Scotland.

IAMZOE - I was thinking maybe the Pleasance Dome, because it's easy to find, and it's massive so we can easily all sit together, unlike some of the pubs which leave people split up. What do you think?

Hi DoubleShiny,
yes, I thought the Pleasance afterwards too, for the festival atmosphere. The only thing is, it would probably mean a taxi there from the cinema - but split between five it would be okay.

The Grassmarket is within walking distance, and has loads of pubs, but I'm not sure how busy it would be during the festival - even if it is a Monday!

Were you thinking dancing too??

And aren't there any other Scottish Browncoats out there?

Or you could hire a mini-bus - isn`t 5 a small number

I know there`s a shindig planned by some of the scottish contingent for the 27th August - maybe you could interupt(politely) that thread to get some info?

Looking forward to this short visit - coming up on the monday & then returning on the tuesday (too expensive to do the complete week)

Hello all. I've only posted a couple of times on FFF. I'm going up to Edinburgh too, so I'm hoping to meet you all there. I have two tickets for the Joss Reel Life talk, but I need, I desire, nay...I CRAVE two for the Monday night if anyone at the end of the alphabet suddenly finds they have too many when their tickets eventually arrive! I can only be there from the Monday to Wednesday morning, so Monday is the only showing I can get to. Here's hoping!

Hey DoubleShiny :-) My mate James confirmed an hour or two ago that our four tickets arrived, so me and some friends are definites... we haven't sorted out accommodation or travel yet though, so the Shindig might very well go on our agenda!

Okey dokey, I've gone ahead and told people that the Shindig will be at the Pleasance Dome. Cheers IAMZOE, I though about the distance but then I remembered the Grassmarket last year, with the packedness and the shouting and the people. Argh!

Got map here with cinema and venue marked on.

All the details are also on Shindig Central.

Yay! Party! The only thing I haven't worked out yet is how we can easily make ourselves recongnisable within the venue for people coming in, who had that shiny flag at the London Xmas Party last year?

EDIT By the way, someone has just pointed out that the screening won't end til at least half 11 at night, so let's say midnight at the Pleasance for those who aren't at the screening. Of course, if you haven't got screening tickets and are going to the Shindig anyway, just post, I'm sure people would meet earlier.

Well my tickets finally came today... odd, considering I'm a J, but without the Reel Life ones, even though the money HAS been taken out of my account for them. Did everyone else get theres at the same time or did they come seperately?

I tried ringing the Box Office and the Information line, but to no aveil... is it a Scottish holiday today or something? :P

We'll probably be up for meeting people after the film - don't post on here a great deal but would still be good to meet people to discuss the 'verse.

Looks good DS,

I can`t remember if there`s a browncoat flag up as one of the prizes the week before at the memorabelia fantable/shindig - maybe you could ask on the browncoatmemo yahoo group? (might be another good idea)

I`ll check out the shindig central - are we planning to go all together from the screening? (apart from those who have been less fortunate than me in scrounging up a ticket)

I might have two spares for the Wednesday matinee. Face value, if anyone's still looking, tell me and I'll hold them over once I get them in my hands.

(Daddy, who clearly loves me dearly, couldn't remember when Joss was supposed to be there, so booked both days. Plus logged on to the EIFF website randomly in the middle of his workday. )

I'm not nice. I'm just highly susceptible to guilt

hello

someone just told me Jewel Staite is coming to Edinburgh for the Monday night, and a lot of the rest of the cast too. Is this true, or just a scurrilous rumour? Did I miss a thread somewhere?

The festival officially launched in Edinburgh just the other day. The whole city is crazy... as usual. The High Street's all closed off and full of enthusiastic drama students handing out flyers for the fringe show they're sure that agent from channel 4 is going to see, and the supermarkets are full of people trying to figure out how to cook for a whole orchestra sharing one two-bedroom flat with a cooker with only one ring... There's some serious culture going on too, I hear. Filmwise, Serenity's had a couple of mentions in both local and national press.

Hope someone can confirm that rumour!

I think some of the cast will make this extra special - and there`s screenings around the UK going online which may also see special guests too.
