Just wondering about this rather funny quote from Nathan Fillion at the end of the extended gag-reel. Was it a reference to an advertising campaign of say the American Farmer's Association? Even the way he sounded was like an exaggerated old farmer to me. I can't find anything on the said quote using Google except that it points to user Piffle101 on this very site! I also missed the gag about Nathan's good news in "saving a bundle on car insurance" at the most recent Comic Con. That is until I found it was from a Geico insurance ad campaign.

Btw, I'm not from the US in case you're wondering.

To be perfectly honest, it has nothing to do with produce, and more to do with posteriors. On the gag reel, that you can find and download on the internet (I'm afraid that I don't know the address where you can do so, but I'm sure that there's someone on this site that does) A young woman seemingly sneaks up on Nathan Fillion as he is bending over to do something. He backs up and bumps into her. The following exchange is heard:

Woman: Whew! Back that thing UP!

Nathan: (Rubbing his own ass) How'd you like a bite of this green apple, A-mer-ic-A!

I'm not sure who the woman is, but, again, you're in the right place to find out.

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

I think it was just him playing

although in an episode of two guys and a girl starring none other than Mr Fillion as a tight assed handyman (Yes I watched it, so sue me) berg (ryan reynolds) gets really drunk and says that exact quote into a mic in a room full of people at an auction.

maybe he just remembered it

and so my fountain of knowledge runneth over
