Got your attention?

Here's the deal. I talked with a manager at the theater tonight, and a midnight screening the night of the 29th is a definite possibility. The only hurdle is getting together the money to rent the theater and the movie.

The movie rental fee varies from film to film, apparently. I'll be talking to some people to try to nail down at least a rough number for that--I'm hoping we might be able to work something out with Universal, given their great support of the fanbase so far. Anyone have a number for the person at the studio to talk to about that?

The theater rental is five hundred bucks. I don't have that much extra cash lying around, but if everyone who's interested throws into the hat, I think we can raise it pretty easily. Your average movie ticket around here costs about $7.50. Bringing a date? That's $15. Is it worth a little more to you to see Serenity at midnight, before everyone else, with a theater full of Browncoats? That's your call. I'm willing to put in 10%--that's $50.

We can make this happen. Who's with me?

Ummm. . .great plan, seriously. . .

But we're already in negotiations with a theatre for a big damn premiere party for the night of the 29th. We got cooperation with the owner of a theater in Raleigh.

Were you looking at this as an ADVANCE for those of us gonna be at the NCBDMPP?

Okay, as far as I can tell from that thread, the plan is for a shindig at the theater the evening of the 30th. If that's still the case, I think a midnight showing might be fun as a run-up to it. Would anybody be up for that?

Static - you said the 29th- did you mean Fri the 30th?

I for one can't make a thurs midnight showing and I know several other who can't either - this would be in addition to the planned weekend festivities yes?

Static - one more thing - did you get anywhere w/ discount tickets to the Ren faire?

Thanks a bunch!

I meant the 30th. . .and I haven't gotten an answer on the discounted tix yet...but hang in there. We're only just now 'spooling up' for this season.

Well, in any case, I'm arriving on the 29th, as are, by my count, 4 others. Obviously, can't speak for local folk. So, a midnight screening on the 29th would not necessarily be amiss. This would not in any way affect my desire to catch the flick on the 30th.
