Great test match.. crappy result.

Still.. we convicts will have the last laugh and bring those ashes back to Australia.

Hmm. Not altogether certain for once, is it?

Yay Freddie!

You can't take the ashes home
(Until you beat us in the next test)

How many times did Brett Lee get thumped with the ball? He is a legend, fastest bowler in the world and bats pretty well too considering he top scored for the Aussie innings.

I love being english, only we can make something so dramatic out of what should have been a routine half hour's work (course, at the time I hated them all)

Even now
I know that I have savored the hot taste of life
Lifting green cups and gold at the great feast.
And just for a small and a forgotten time
I have had full in my eyes from off my girl
The whitest pouring of eternal light.

Both sides really played their hearts out this test (except for England's top order) and it's a testament to the quality and excitement that I watched the last 30 odd runs with two girls who previously had shown no interest in cricket whatsoever and ended up as nervous as I was.

What was particularly satisfying was that Flintoff immediately went over to Lee after the last dismissal and consoled him. He is one of the few genuine good guys left in the game.

And I think it was the right result. England did play better overall but only just. Still, I shudder to think what would have happened if Warne hadn't stomped all over his own wicket.

As far as test matches go, you can't really ask for more :)

Lee is a bit of a chancer...but he played well. Even though I was supporting England, it was a shame to see Kasprowicz huddled down after he was caught - at #11 in the order (and a last minute substitute no less) he'll probably never have another chance to be a batting hero like that in his career. He's going to be asking himself 'why didn't I leave it?' for a fair few weeks now...

On the England side of things, am I the only one concerned by the fact that Vaughan keeps getting out for a pittance?

I am not in the slightest concerned. I am Australian though.

Metaphorically of course, we know that we couldn't trust you with a small cheap jar with a crappy label on it.

Yeah, Vaughn is not pulling his weight. He seems to be a good captain but our entire top order are not doing their job which is to run up a few hundreds. In fact, nobody is doing that job in either side at the moment.

England haven't produced their best but Australia certainly haven't and they know how to. It's going to be an interesting few days coming up, particularly if your rugby playing bowler remains incapacitated.

You know, the tv people looked at brett lee's dismissal... his hand was off the bat when it got hit by the ball... so TECHNICALLY, it shouldnt be out.

You mean Kasprowicz - Lee finished not out. And it makes no difference - there have been questionable calls all throughout, not least of which being Pieterson's supposed dismissal in the second innings.

Lee is now in doubt for the next test as he has an infected knee(how the hell does that happen?).

It aint looking good for the good guys(Aussies)if Lee and McGrath dont play. Maybe if the batsmen perform....

You started out this thread pointing out how you were just a bunch of convicts, now you're the good guys?

Heh. Although this Lee injury is quite disappointing really, this isn't the way a side wants to get the upper hand in a match.

If he is out, who have they got to replace him?
