I know how you feel. I'm struggling with my new site design too.

I'm changing things up a bit. I'm gonna run databases almost exclusively and only create one or two pages. Then just load as needed. It'll seem like a lot but only be a little work to maintain.

I've thrown out my flash work...it just wasn't doin it for me.

Miss Carolski, Alas I have not yet packed but I have mentally packed. I shall go shopping on Thursday for the goodies (probably even the vodka - Schipol airport is expensive). I shall then pack three pairs of knickers and socks and 1 or 2 tops. Although I am lazy and shall wear the same jeans all weekend. Does mademoiselle approve?

Hopefully it will all fit as handluggage, it depends how small I can squish the sleeping bag.

Tell me about it - I spent 20 mins on the phone to Wanadoo yesterday explaining that my password wasn't be accepted and YES I was typing everything correctly, in lower-case etc...Ah well, got there in the end (after they told me a totally different user-name to try!). Which just leaves the stupid laptop to connect. Which I hate.

OK Carol - you may be our BDH! You're mine anyway after yesterday (and Keely's, and Jaina's etc etc...)

Not going to London tomorrow so can't look for comics. Sorry :( Hopefully Citizen bought enough to keep most people happy though.

The important thing to remember is that while you may be calling a technical support line, that does not guarantee you'll be talking to someone with any technical knowledge. Or that the person you get to begin with has the right technical knowledge.

Hell, the one time I've used such a tech support line I was surprised to find that the people in the tech support section for an ISP can't send e-mails to confirm things 'in writing'. How useless is that?

Bear in mind also that I am a computer programmer and occasional IT gimp.

Okay, what's wrong with your laptop's internet connection? (Good information to add would be what operating system you're running, what error messages you get, what ISP you use, etc, etc)

It sounds as though your graphics card drivers are either very old or corrupt. Try going to your manufacturers website to download the latest set.

I assume your using some version of windows:
Try updating your graphics drivers, the problems you've posted defiantly point to a problem with the video card, screen going funny while scrolling etc...
Lines accross the screen *could* be the monitor, but they ussually stay there all the time, rather than appearing and dissapearing...
Problem is that video cards on Laptops are often on board, so they require a new motherboard to replace...

But try the latest drivers, as it could be a software conflict along the line...

Well the PC's barely a year old so the graphics card can't be that bad! (plus it plays Sims 2 very nicely!). Corrupt is another matter of course.

Laptops Windows XP. We've got wireless broadband. Main pc (the one with the crappy graphics!) has wired connection. The laptop has it's own modem - it seems to recognise the router but is saying limited or no connectivity and won't connect. I remember having a load of hassle trying to set the darned thing up when we bought it at Christmas - finally sorted it out but for the life of me can't remember how. I hate computers....
