I'm in a bit of confusion here. ALL morning, I've been kicking around the internet in search of where I can order the first issue of the Serenity comic series, hopefully all three covers. And all I'm getting are dead ends, Out of Stocks, or places that are selling them for $13+ each. I know it sold out from the first run in a snap, but I took it that they were sent back to the press? Will it just be some time before it's back to $2.99 a pop, or am I stuck with the hyped up prices?

I'd loooove anyone who is better versed in the comic book 'verse (to tell the truth, this is the first comic I've ever had the urge to buy, aside from Joss's futuristic slayer in Graphic Novel form) to shed some light for me, or maybe point me in the direction of where I can get an issue or two. Thanks in advance. ^_^

Dark Horse's distributer is www.tfaw.com. I know there are also a few fans selling comics at cover price, but I don't remember their website adresses...

TFAW has the Inara cover, it appears, which is the most I've found all day. ^_^ Thanks, though if you happen to find those fan sellers, I'd love to see those.

For some reason the words "Diamond the size of a testicle" come to mind. The comics, like the prescreenings, sell out faster than Jayne in a hospital. Hopefully they'll reprint around the time the movie is released. There is certain to be even more demand around then so they'd be crazy not to.

I nearly missed out on the first issue before eventually finding a copy at comix-shop.co.uk. I ordered the second one the same day it arrived but their suppliers had sent them fewer kaylee covers than they had ordered! Comix-shop were very good about it and asked me if I wanted another cover or to wait a week and hope for more kaylee covers to be delivered. I decided to wait but asked for them to reserve another cover just incase the kaylee ones never came. Fortunately more came and I should recieve it shortly.

Good luck finding them!

I've been pimping this comic book site all week:
http://www.midtowncomics.com/
it is a huge store in NYC and they have BOTH Serenity #1 AND #2 in stock
(you may have to phone their 800 for the latter)

publisher: Dark Horse
Serenity #1 released July 13
Serenity #2 released Aug 3

I don't recommend TFAW, they are VERY slow and not easy to deal with...they'll leave you waiting weeks for the reprint of #1 when you could have it shipped now from the original printing if you go through Midtown Comics

Whoa! And they're even at cover price!

I can't believe I didn't find that earlier...thank you soooo much for pointing me towards that, you rock!

wow. i had no idea that the comics were selling out like that. I picked up the first two just cuz i liked them at a glance. hadn't even seen firefly yet. there's a chance they will be re-released in second printings if they're selling out like that. Or they will be collected in trade paperback format, most comics now adays are.

I buy way too much comics...

I got mine from 258 West Authentic:

https://258west.com/category/cat.php?id=13

Cover price for #s 2 and 3, and the 2nd printing of #1. Shipping is a bit pricy, but not unreasonable.

Edit: Woops, sorry. Looks like they're sold out of #s 1 & 2. Guess I should have looked at the page before I linked it. >_>

I ended up buying all covers of issue #1 from the Midtown location, and all covers of issue #2 from TFAW. Yes, I realize NOW that I could have saved money ordering all of them from one place, but I kind of spaced and didn't realize I could just order them all from Midtown by phone. Ah, nonetheless, they're on the way thanks to the help of the grand Browncoats here. Thanks everyone!

I just bought mine from the excellent Serenity stall at Memorabilia (UK). Too bad I didn't have enough money for a Jayne hat :(

The comics were excellent, so much more satisfying than Angel: The Curse.

Perididdle: I always end up getting my comics from several difference sources, because I didn't realize when I pre-ordered at TFAW that I would want all three covers of each (and I didn't realize I'd have to wait at least a week longer to get them!)
so then I bought out all they had at my local comic book store (he assures me he'll have more in stock for Serenity #3!)
and still I don't have enough...
seems like my friends don't want to buy their own,
they want to borrow mine;
don't they know I want to keep my copies all clean and nice? LOL
So now I need extra 'library' copies for lending...

I'd check around your family if I were you, CS,
I'll bet you have a Grandmother or Aunt who would enjoy knitting you a Jayne hat,
and could knock it out in a couple of days....
It doesn't have to be perfect
(actually 'perfect' would involve some straw sticking out of it...
occassionally)

I feel your pain! I'm painstakingly obsessed with my DVDs and books, so when I lend them out to friends, I always tell them how exactly they should attempt to handle the discs and pages. I'm to the point where I will only give my DVDs to good friends who I know won't hurt them (I'm quite proud of my Buffy set, you see...^_^)

A lending library doesn't sound like a bad idea at all...that way, you can still convert friends and, at the same time, keep your own copies nice and perfect.

YT

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

Should Bartlett's or Bartleby ask me, I'll tell them I heard it from niknak, first.

Support your local comic-shop. There's an 1800 number you can call to find one.

I've had no problem getting my comics. I just went to my local comic shop and had them add it to my pull-list.

Yup, I went to my local comic shop for both issues, and bought the guy at the registar's copy both times (I felt bad, but hey, he made the purchase!)

No power in the 'verse can stop me!
