It's tough because there is very little way to guage interest outside of our own little circles. But...

$113 million worldwide by Dec 6.

Personally I hope you win... $175 million would get a sequal rolling immediately after Wonder Woman.

ROLAND

I think "Legend of Zorro" will be the biggest threat of the movies listed a couple posts above. "Doom" could draw away some viewers as well because of the overlap of the fan bases. I personally play lots of computer/video games and haved played the "Doom" series. I will be interested in seeing the movie to see how well the game is interpreted into movie form. I'm not sure how the "Wallace and Grommet" movie will do. While I enjoy the short cartoons I have seen of it, it isn't exactly a mainstream cartoon. I think the biggest threat will be the lower number of movie goers at that time of year.

Keep in mind that Chicken Run topped $100 million. It cracked 2000's top 20 of the year from a box office standpoint. I expect Wallace and Grommit will probably end up between $75-90 million domestic, with another $75-90 oversees.

from the response at this weekends memorabilia (b'ham UK)i'd say there's interest outside our own little circles - we had one (of not the) busiest damn stall of the weekend (see the picks in the relevant thread)
but it's gonna be word of mouth people - i like all your projections talk but seriously you gotta go talk to as many people as possible in the next six weeks - i kinda feel like while we got this far

someone said the trailer might be a bit too dark - well dark is good, dark is interesting, dark is the new black (well..????). people are bored with flashy special effects, wooden characters, sloopy dialogue and unimaginative plots - now i've not seen the film but Joss, if any of this applies to Serenity your for it at the Edinburgh Q+A - seriously though the tone of the Sunday Times article was that the action movie needs saving and that Joss could be about the only person capable of doing that - now thats a lot to lay on a guy but we can only be doing good things

tell people about the gorram movie!!!! - its that simple

smile pretty and watch your back

the movie is not the Series. Only the facts have been changed, to irritate the innocent; the names of the actors and characters remain the same

No, we just need to stop jerkin' each other off for the next eight weeks, and Universal will make the only real judgement. Then Joss, Adam, Jewel & Nathan will tell it as it is.

CEDRIC

Some say it's a shoo-in, some predict a struggle. All I know is that the job's not done 'til we're back on the boat, so we have to do our part to promote, promote, promote:

I'm planning to hand out 11th-Hour flyers at the local theater the weekend *before* Serenity opens, on top of telling everyone I know.

I'm also thinking about looking into the wild west re-enactors and enthusiasts to see what kind of lists they have on the 'net. I bet they'd be interested in Firefly and Serenity.

Here's my ha'penny worth (My estimates have the obligatory tolerance of plus or minus $5M {c'mon... I gotta have tolerances... I'm an engineer... see? I even do the brackets thing}.):
> Opening Weekend (Domestic): $25M
> Domestic Gross: $60M
> Overseas Gross: $75M

Of course, I have no gage for this since I'm a bit biased: I love it so it'll make zillions, but I love it so everyone else will hate it so it'll make nuthin'. Somewhere in between is the truth.

Well, all my predictions above were the reasonable mathematician in me. Now here comes the fanboy who has seen us exceed every conceivable expectation ever set for this show.

US Opening weekend: $50mil.
30% drop off the next two weeks, then to the normal 50% dropoff.

International gross 50% of domestic total.

Gives us the final figures off:
Domestic: 130mil
International: 65mil
Total: 195mil by Dec 6th.

WHITEFALL

Guys, let me just say... I love all the predictions and all... but I just want to mention that whoever said it, you rock, and I think we need to have a t-shirt slogan campaign thing about it. Remember folks:

The Screen Job...

THE JOB'S NOT DONE 'TILL WE'RE BACK ON SERENITY!!!

I survived a day in Whitefall and all I got was this lousy signature!

This is the referenced post, but I agree.

Someone with a Zazzle shop makes a Screen Job T-Shirt, and I'm in.
