The great pie debate continues.

The October Pie, the most powerfull and tasty pie known to man has gone missing. The mighty Kipling empire enlists the help of the United Bakers of Ginsters, their great enemy, to find the pie...
...But soon it becomes clear that the October Pie and her senior bakery team are trying to defect...

in response to your question CMS

last night he called me to say they had been to the hotel we are staying at, (where he is holding the wedding reception) and they had seen our room, its a disabled room, and that it was huge, and miss bitch was in the backround going 'its bigger than ours, im going to make sure you get a smaller one' i thought she was joking

so i get a call this morning from my brother saying that we cant actually have the disabled room as they cant put a sofa bed in due to health and safety, but they will do just that with a standard sized double room

make sense to you??

no me either

id also like to know since when did they have the right to interfere with my booking

Sounds like bollocks to me. Get onto the hotel yourself and check it out. Tell them what and why and get them to sort it out and give you the room you are supposed to have.

yep, and have a go at the hotel - if you made the booking with them direct they aren't allowed to change it on the request of someone else. You need a disabled room, fight girl!

I just emailed this to them

I am booked in to the hotel from the 16th September to the 18th september for my brothers wedding.
The reservation was made by me and is in my name, details of which are below, however the wedding is in the name of *insert scotts name here*

He has called me today to inform me that we cannot have the disabled room we requested due to not being able to have a single sofa bed place in the room, for my other child to sleep on. yet this can be done in a normal double room. can you clarify the reasons for this, and if there is any disclaimer i can sign to secure this room. As the extra space for a wheel chair would be most helpful, as well as any other equipment my daughter might need, such as feeding equipment.

I would also ask that although this is my brothers wedding, that you not discuss my reservation with him or his fiance further.
I can be contacted on blaaah at any time.

With Regards

Carol King

Good for you, Carol. Don't stand for it!
(I'm assuming this Miss B. you referred to is the fiance, soon to be wife? Bet you can't wait to have her as a sister-in-law.)

And the nerve of someone complaining that a disabled room is bigger than theirs! That's like complaining that the handicapped parking spots are closer than the non-handicapped ones. Berk.

Citizen-yes I know it's the most tastiest pie ever, but what flavour is it? Is it a meat pie or a fruit pie or one of those pasties that's a bit of both?

It's very humid today and my normally very straight hair is all frizzy and funky. It can't decide if it wants to be wavy or curly or straight or what, so it's kind of doing all of the above. Should have worn it up.

I was out picking blueberries the other week too, and hence the warm blueberry pie with vanilla ice cream that I'm eating right now, sat in front of my laptop. Yummm, slurp. Anyone want a bite? Actually no, what was I thinking?! This is heavenly... and I'm off to get seconds! And make some damn fine coffee to top it off.

Ahhh.. the good life.

Ever tried simple.... er... blueberry milk? As in, just drop a bunch of whole blueberries into a glass of milk, and then consume. I used to make myself that treat at my gran's house back in the days. And find various other exciting ways of eating blueberries, gooseberries and red & black currants. And then run around her garden with my teeth and gums tinged dark purple!

No, I've never tried that ... but I have tried (don't laugh, now!) blueberry beer. It was at a brew pub in Albany, where they had several different berry-based brews to try. It was very interesting, and had little blues floating and bobbing around in it, as well.

Aw, blueberry pancakes.....!

First time I went on holiday to the US I HAD to order pancakes. And we're sitting there, waiting & wondering why they're taking so long to arrive - when suddenly there appears the biggest darned plate of pancakes you've ever seen! Just heaven...

This has always puzzled me though - can anyone tell me that that kind of salty buttery/creamy thing is that you guys serve with pancakes? Nothing like that over here :(

Hmm. I've had pancakes with all manner of butter, including some varieties that were whipped something fierce; might it have been something like that? I've also had them (usually fruit pancakes) with whipped cream. Other than those, I'm not sure. It could have been a regional thing, too.

Cool. My local at uni does raspberry beer, though can't remember where it hails from. Most people hate it or try to make an effort to label it as 'some girlie beer', but I happen to like it. Would like to get my hands on some of that blueberry variety tho... mmmmmm.

I'm envisioning these little white plastic cubes where you peel off the paper top and inside is a dollop of very creamy butter that was squirted inside through a nozzle that makes a kind of swirled star shape; at least that's the sort of pancake butter I'm used to getting at hotels and some restaurants. Does that come close to describing what you mean?

Have never seen it in a container I'm afraid - just in squares unwrapped. It's very pale, virtually white and definitely salty...

And I'm going to stop thinking about this now because am getting very hungry!

Fray-definitely salted whipped butter. That's the only thing that comes in squares like that.

This talk of blueberries makes me sad. Why? Because every summer my family used to go to my grandparents house in Maine. There's a huge field near their house where we'd go and pick blueberries by the bucketful. Then we'd bake bake bake away. Pies, muffins, cobbler etc. We'd eat them in our cereal, we'd have fruit salad. We'd just eat them by the handful. We'd freeze bagfulls to take back home with us. And my grandfather would always make his World Famous Incredibly Delicious Blueberry Pancakes (Fray, you haven't eaten pancakes until you've had these.) Well, my grandmother passed away last March and my grandfather this March. We went up last summer for my grandmother's memorial, but it was early June, not blueberry season. We didn't go up this summer. My dad went in March for the funeral, but we didn't go. I don't know if we'll go up as a family again. And it just makes me so sad. I LOVE Maine and I used to just love being at my grandparents house. So now blueberries make me sad.

So, you sure I can't get a slice of that blueberry pie?

Fray-tell your boss to be a man and get rid of his own spider, the whimp!

To tell truth, growing up I never did anything like that. I was a suburban Florida child in a family with no money and the relatives were just across town. All of my "connectedness" with seasonal produce, and outings to pick them and special dishes to showcase them, have come into my life along with my wife, who grew up where we are now and who is very into such things. I suppose I was somewhat insulated before she came along.

mwaaaahahahahahahahahahaha

just had a loverly chat with the hotel and the woman organising the reception.

not only did my brother lead them to believe it twas i that was disabled, he also told them that it wasnt that serious a disability.

after much filling in of facts, she did indeed say that because of legal reason they cant put a sofa bed the room, but if one were to have such thing as a ready bed (i just purchased a bratz one) then that would be fine as the liability lies with me, which is fine.

So we have our disabled room, and they are well aware of the fact it is chloe who is disabled
