I just finished watching a movie called The Jacket which I'd never heard of and only watched because I was bored out of my mind. Turns out it's a REALLY good movie and right after it finished I was reminded of Firefly, from the ads (those few there were) that Fox put out Firefly didn't look like much to me but it turned out to be the BEST show I've ever seen. So I thought I'd start a thread where people can recommend hidden gems, films/shows that never got much press but stand out in your mind.

SAFEAT2ND

Oh Brother Where Art Thou. This was a hidden gem. Never saw any ads for it when it was in the theaters. Saw it on TV one night and thought "well it's got George Cloony in it, I'll have a look" and ended up being rooted to my seat.

Slingblade with Billy Bob Thorton was really good too.
