Well Browncoats, lots of news in this post. As usual, if you’d like to
join the group email me at TechieCL AT gmail DOT com to be added to the
list.

1) I’m going to need everyone from the Parade group who donated to the
SEBC to email me their real first and last name, so I can compare it to
the donation listing. Highest donor will have first choice in being a
banner carrier or the flag bearer.

2) I have the finalized rule parade times and guidelines from the
Dragon-Con Parade Staff.

Important Times
Saturday Sept 3rd:
8:45am to 8:55am We’ll be meeting up at the bar area of the
Hyatt to walk down to the parade staging area together: Woodruff
Park [Peachtree St and Auburn Ave, about 4 blocks South of the
Hyatt Regency). I will also be handing out the parade ribbons
(officially its required to be able to march in the parade. I
will try to get as many extras as possible if we get a lot of
recruits day of the con. I'm slated to get at least 50 ribbons]. I will
be holding aloft an SEBC Sign. Little Coffee Shop of Horror will at the
park, providing complementary beverages for all parade participants of all groups.

9:30am - The latest marchers can arrive at Woodruff Park and
still be in the parade. So if you miss us at the Hyatt, this
is your last chance to arrive at our group.

9:30am - Lining up with the other parade groups and getting
into formation.

Parade Formation for our group (subject to modifying by the parade
coordinators):
The two banner holders will be first.
10-20ft behind them will be the Browncoat flag bearer
10ft behind & flanking the bearer will be two columns of costumers.
Preferably each column will have equal numbers of the various characters.

10:00am - Start of Parade

10:45am - Approx end of parade (total distance walked is ¾ miles) ending
at the back entrance of the Marriot. Little Coffee Shop of Horror will
provide complimentary bottled water for marchers.

10:45 & onwards. Photoshoot (Cosplay.com's for one or two group shots and our
own photographers for more groups and individual shots)
in the Marriott lobby/registration area. If it is too crowded we may move
to an alternate location after we all
arrive there.

Rules and tips (most of it lifted from the official info sheet I got)
* Use the restroom before headed to meet up. No stores are open
in the area, and I’m pretty sure there are no portable toilets around.
* Use common sense and show courtesy for all involved with the
parade.
* Show up on time and be patient during staging/line-up.
* No costume is no costume! Remember the parade is held on city
streets and decency laws will apply. Watching the parade is open to
the public, small children and other impressionable beings, like the
media, will be along the route. Please choose your costume wisely.
* When tossing trinkets to the crowd, please use an under hand
toss or place them directly in the recipient’s hands. No strikeout
pitches and no projectiles, please!
* No flash pots, explosive devices, fireworks or loaded weapons of
any kind. Absolutely not allowed, period.
* Prop weapons (part of your costume) are OK. However, Atlanta PD
escorts the parade and may make swift response to any action they deem
inappropriate or threatening. Think about how you brandish your weapon.
* If you have a question about whether or not something will be
allowed - ask beforehand!!
* Wave and smile at the crowd
* Have fun!

Sounds good.

Just one quick question: did we have to sign up before hand to get in the parade and you give the ribbons to those people on your list or is it just "first come, get in the parade"? Cuz my mom (BayBreeze1) said we were in the parade but when I asked if we had already registered, she said she had put us down on your list.

Just trying to make sure I completely understand the situation. I have been known to hear someone say one thing and a day later I think they said something entirely different. Thanks.

You guys don't have to do anything but get in contact with me. I've been on contact with Dragon-con for all the appropriate sign up which consisted of me going: "I have a group; I'll need 50 parade ribbons to hand out to them."

So at the meet up Sat morning I will hand out the ribbons to those people that signed up by emailing to me. And whatever extras I manage will go to those who show up day of.
