I know many folks will disagree, but I always like to read the book first if I think it might be decent, and this was damned good stuff. Since I'd read some spoilers here already, no huge surprises, but great dialogue.

And, as an added bonus, the full names of all the characters.

Whether you want to read it before the movie or not, do yourself a favor and run out and get a copy for later. Plus, it supports the browncoat cause...

Congrats to Mr. DeCandido for capturing the words of our Big Damned Heroes, as well as the feel of the show/'verse.

This might be considered spoilery for those that read the book (yes, it's a twisted little world)

As far as I can tell from his excerpts he is using the "original" dialogue from show and movie and adds his own. That looks like a great solution, because he can add all the things that just didn't happen "on screen", yet nobody can blame him of changing any of Joss dialogue or start fighting if line x was better in the book or the movie.

I'm also one that usually reads the book before seeing the movie. Since just about everyone here recommends one seeing the movie first,I've decided that I'll try and hold off for this one.

But, considering I'm on page 148, I don't think I'll be able to do it.

I really don't think a book could possibly capture the emotional power the movie has. For instance horror movies often have those moments where you know you're gonna jump when something big and scary comes out of nowhere. No book has ever had that effect on me. Same as no book has had the effect of Serenity on me. I'd see the movie first with this one. I think spoilers would ruin possibly the best cinematic experience you'll ever have.
