I had never heard about any of this and then just happened to catch a trailer for a movie with some kick-a$$ girl and had to find out what this was all about, especially seeing so many fans were already way ahead of me.

I figured this had to be a sci-fi novel series or some such, but was totally blown away to find out about Firefly. As soon as I could track down the DVD's, I took a chance and bought them, even though I had never seen even one episode. It is still the best $40 I ever spent! It feels strange not to watch at least one episode every day and I can't wait for the movie. In fact, I had to read the novelization as soon as it came out and I was blown away once again. That story stayed with me so much the last few days I was eventually drawn here, just to see what the rest of the verse thought about it.

no spoilers for the movie...most people here will avoid the novelization until AFTER they see the finished film.
But you can also buy Joss Whedon's shooting script and notes, entitled:
Serenity: The Official Visual Companion
and have you watched the guerilla marketing prequel videos? here:

Have you read the comic books which bridge the 6 month gap between Firefly and Serenity?

Welcome to the fold.... I admit, I was one of the skeptics about that trailer, that it was too action-y and not enough Firefly-goodness, but I guess you are living proof that it has it's upsides. :)

Hang on tight, this next month is gonna be a hell of a ride.

these are guerilla marketing Universal has been quietly putting out at sites like ifilm,
the interviewer (w/back to the camera) is Joss Whedon, who also wrote & directed them...
and of course Summer Glau as River Tam

they are prequel to the TV show, so not spoilery for the movie....
but very weird (and kind of exciting!)
