Hello all. *munches his way in*
*munch*
*munch*

Yes, the Australian poster's a bit poo, and feel somewhat ashamed if that's going to be the wide-spread international version.

Not that I didn't 'like' this movie or its much-better original Pitch Black, but the poster gives off a 'Chronicles of Riddick' kind of whiff... if you get my meaning. Some contrived, lame, epic adventure (which Firefly/Serenity certainly is not) produced to amateurish results, with hot chicks and leather-clad neo-bikers, and sci-fi fantasy blades... and no visible plot.

Oh, and while we're slightly on the randomness of food (when are we not?!), what is everyone's staple food that they could live off for a week or two?
Mine answer is simple: This delicious bowl of Blue Dragon 3-minute noodles, Chicken flavour with chili bits (find 'em in your nearest Tesco). Mmmmm mmmmm! I'm sure this brand has just as many E values in it, but it's the only quick-noodle food I've found that actually tastes 'natural' and scrumptuous. Unlike those big, disgusting Pot Noodle varieties.

Sorry Fray-I wasn't wearing my Fray shirt because I'd worn it on Friday and I got the hug on Monday. I was wearing my Jayne hat, though. Not that that means much to you. Sorry dear! Wish someone got a pic of it, but I don't think anyone did.

Ah yes, I was reading your other post about confusing Goths with the Jayne hat - nice work! Sounds like everyone had a great time.

And yes, thumbs up for noodles. Were certainly a great source of comfort at uni!

Fray:
What type of printer is it? Make and model?
Combined scanner/printer sounds like an Epson? CX3600?

Does it start actually printing, or does it only start sending the data?

Try restarting the print spooler:
Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services
Then scroll down to "Print Spooler" and hit the "restart" link on the left.

Hi all, btw...

Hmmm.... bearing in mind that it's all clearly a bit of a comedy moment, are we sure it's him?

I think it is... and he's really lost weight!

Why does it sound like you're assuming something bad has happened to him for that to happen?

I didn't see the comedy - maybe I missed something (well, it was funny when Bryan Singer messed up the set but that's a different matter). I'd seen photos of Peter Jackson on the King Kong set and was stunned by the weight loss, then again when I saw the trailer. But in this video, he just looks ill. Obviously he's shattered by the shoot, fair enough - but I don't know...

Hey, if they're just messing around then the jokes on me. But I was shocked when I watched that. He looks a wreck. Well done on the weight loss and all but he doesn't exactly look healthy, does he?

And Sean - nah, doesn't even start printing. Thanks for the advice though.

A lot of it is comedic, but maybe not all of it. Like the "suddenly he's asleep" thing. I'm sure he really is tired though.

I think the fact that he looks 'suddenly' so thin looks worrying, but he's probably okay. Maybe all the dieting/exercise/whatever has left him more tired?

I remember when my dad lost a lot of weight. He noticed people acted a a tiny bit oddly around him for ages, till he (inevitably) put it all back on again. Then he found out that everyone had thought he was horribly ill!

Why can't those of us who want to lose a lot weight do it?!

Right, couple of things:

IT Query Number 500: I ask this because my Mother is driving me mad moaning about it - she's got a wireless enabled laptop. And yes it connects to the internet, no probs there. BUT...each time she turns the laptop on, she has to reenable the wireless connection, it doesn't connect automatically. Now let's be honest, it only takes about 10 seconds to reestablish the connection but apparently this is the greatest inconvenience in the world (jeez woman, remember dial-up?!) Answers on a postcard to the usual address.

Right - something for you boys (as a thank you for your IT help!). Have just uploaded a couple of pix from Dragon Con to the Photo Verse. Take a look at the photo of Jewel - pretty, ain't she? Now look at it again...

Right well, I haven't offered my manly IT techie skills yet, as my brain is too frazzled with all this packing i'm doing for my inevitable mid-September move back to the UK. But I'm here as moral support for now.

I've also taken the liberty of checking out that Jewel pic, and.... aaaargh! Even with the photo slightly blurry and out-of-focus, why does she still have to be so delicious, scantily-clad and teasing me with white hotpants! Grrr. I declare a fatwa on your feminine wiles!

What make is your printer?

It scans and the pictures appear on the computer right?

As for the laptop there'll either be a setting in the BIOS or in windows...
What make/model is it (cause they're all different).

Anyway last time I saw peter jackson it was some interview or other and he'd lost loads of weight and was looking quite fit (thats fit as in healthy before anyone says anything).
Couldn't access the link cause my internet is deciding to see how far it can push me...
Grrr...

mmmm she wears short shorts...

Printer's a Lexmark. And yep, image appears on the computer although it does have a little viewfinder thingy on the printer (see how I'm learning technical terms?!)

Laptop's an HP Pavillion DV1000.

Despite disliking the new poster so much I have graciously created a wallpaper for all those foolish folks (and Jaina) who like it. Consider it my selfless gift to the BC world!

Putting aside Peter Jackson's health, those little Superman Returns video clips are pretty cool (not that they're giving much away of course). If only Joss had done a video journal for Serenity!

(Snigger - Sean thinks PJ is fit! Snigger...)

*mummble mummble mummble*
Imature gorram...
So gonna regret that PJ comment...
*mummble mummble mummble*

And thingy is a recognised tech term, I use it myself, along with whatcha macallit and:
"if you don't start working! you see that window! we're on the fifth floor!"

As for the printer, (if you havent already)restarting both the computer and the printer, then if it still doesn't work uninstall the printer drivers and install the latest versions.

If it still doesn't work then its definatly a printer problem, tho I think thats probably the case anyway. If you wish to hear the technical term it sounds like your printer may very well be .
It must be still under warranty if tech support is saying its a computer problem, so your probably alright.

The laptop probably has an option somewhere in the control panel to set it to automatically connect (if it can do that, sometimes they won't so they can conserve battery).
Its hard to tell where the option will be without the computer in front of me but:
In the task bar at the right hand side there should be an icon that is a monitor with three semi-circular lines coming off of it. Double click that and then click "view wireless networks".
http://www.twisted-imaginings.com/Share/img1.JPG
On that window click change advanced setting, then hit configure on the next window.
http://www.twisted-imaginings.com/Share/img2.JPG
Make sure its one the advanced tab and try setting both ringed options to Enable.

You can turn off signatures in your control panel. In fact, how can you not?

Day 2. The natives of this planet Work have slowly started to accept me into their culture. However, they still perform tricks in front of me that I must learn if I am to earn their respect and tribute. There is a clear hierarchy based on each man's ability to perform said tricks, the more obscure and effective the trick, the higher the rank the showman can aspire to.

I must retire to my tent/tipi/wigwam to study further so I may yet not be kicked out on my ear for gross incompetence.

*sits down in tipi, strokes beard, and puffs on pipe*
Hmmmm.... yes, and this is clearly indicative of several complex social layers. Firstly it shows that you are still in the initiation, or 'liminoidal' phase of induction as it were. You are still rubbed clean, betwixt, lying outside the general framework of the community - until you are brought into the fold.
Secondly, your pain-staking fieldwork studies on this 'trick' culture have lots of merit. But it is clear that further needs to be done...
*strokes beard again*
I wonder if these tricks also play a further 'realease valve' function within the society, allowing each trickster to temporarily release social hierarchical tensions at play.
*passes pipe to SimonWho*

Aahhhh.... the joys of an anthropology degree.

Hang in there, I'm sure you'll eventually beat these tricksters at their own game!

morning, hows all?

And I turn up for work, and I was only twenty mins late, and they start expecting me to get some work done right away. Does that seem right to you?

Q: What do you have when you are holding two little green balls in your hand.
A: Kermit's undivided attention.

Bosses are so inconsiderate...They should all be slaughtered!

So, which t-shirt did you buy? I love the Inara's Academy stuff - very nice. When my commission's cleared might treat myself to something from there.
