The Man They Call Soul...

So I've posted a few times about a movie review site called Movies.com and a certain movie reviewer that has done nothing but bash Serenity ever since he heard about it. They have something called the "Buzz Bin" where they write about "the 12 things you absolutely have to know about Hollywood right now." Each time there is new news about Serenity, they report it but bash it. Imagine my suprise when I check over there today and read this:

Serenity Now! I'm acquainted with nerds, but I'm not really one of them. At least that's what I keep telling myself. So this Joss Whedon sci-fi western sounded too nerdy, even for me. Well, I — and a theater full of soon-to-be-40-year-old virgins — saw a preview screening, and I can honestly say … it was awesome. In fact, it's inspired me to come out of the nerd closet! Where are my dice bag and Dungeon Masters Guide?

We've won yet again.

Here's the link to the page:

Yeah, but in that same breath there are a few backhanded comments. I'm certainly not a virgin and have never played D&D.

He didn't count on any us being married. He thinks we're single, obviously virgin, action-figure playing, sword wielding, forum haunting, mimo routing dorks...what's wrong with having a die that's more than six-sided?

You never played, not even just once? Huh. You really aren’t a dork!

Nope...never played it. Had plenty of friends who did, but I just couldn't wrap my head around the math of it all. Hitpoints and all that jazz.

So, yeah...I'm a virgin who plays D&D. I guess he's just talking about me, then.

TRACY

I do. I have the action figures. (And my cats have the "Box of Madness" - the box in which they came, stuffed with crumpled paper, which has provided hours of fun...) We all got something out of it, apparently...

MAL: If anyone gets nosy, just, you know... shoot 'em.
ZOE: Shoot 'em?
MAL: Politely.

DARKJESTER

Well, I was a virgin when I played back in high school, but I also played D&D as a married father of three. I had friends who went bowling, or out to the bar with the guys.... I played a half-elven fighter-mage on Friday nights. Been a few years now, though.

MAL "You only gotta scare him."
JAYNE "Pain is scary..."
