Before the crews started up, I had over 4000 credits. Not bad considering I'd only signed up back in January or something, and I never did anything.

But then I changed my handle over there and had to start from scratch and now I've got 1000 some odd.

If you want to be nosey and see everyone's rating, you can check out each person's profile under our crew. It gives you current credits and total credits (I guess if they spent some).

Ah, I get ya. Well I was both serious and joking. I like to mix and match, it keeps people on their toes "Is he joking?" they wonder. Just today I was told I was being bossy at the weekend. The reason? I was playing rounders with a bunch of others and at one point in the game I kept telling a couple of other fielders to stop being lazy and get to where the ball was actually going. It was my "army guy" routine, but they took it seriously, apparently one asked the other if they had done something wrong to upset me. Oh I had a good laugh hearing that. Then felt guilty. Then had a laugh again

Anyway back to the point. I did misread the message for a start, but I blame my haste to get through a tonne of messages at once. Still, normally I probably would have skipped the comment by, but I decided to have a little fun in teasing Serenity's authoritative position on the ship. Does that make me goofy or dumber?
You know when I was a toddler, my hair was so blonde it was white. That's my excuse for any stupid comment I make

...

If I've offended any blonde's out there, I'm sorry, I have a habit of putting my foot in my mouth and saying things that people take the wrong way. Can you blame me? when I was a toddler, I was so blonde...

Well I couldn't put it back in my ear for some reason, so I shoved it up a nostril. It didn't really go in that easy so I really had to snort it up there. I think all is better now... though for some reason, every time I sneeze, I start speaking a different language

More like Baseball. I don't exactly know what the differences are, and there are different versions of Rounders, but basically its a soft ball we use, and there are 4 bases to ge around... in fact I think it's pretty similar with the exception of minor differences

Excuse my ignorance too, some expert might read this and rant about how different the two games are

Needy, sounds like soft-ball here. There are different versions, fast-pitch, slo-pitch, 3-pitch etc.. I play slo-pitch. Same rules, no sliding or stealing is the only difference and the pitches have to be between 6 and 10 feet arc on them.

Jack, Chief Nurse of Destiny

Needy awakens on the cold metal operatng table... naked

"Agh!" Needy moans before quickly jumping off the medical table, and covering himself up with his hands

"What the hell?!"

The room is empty, nobody is around, fortunately, but unfortunately his clothes are also nowhere to be seen. Then his jaw begins to ache and he remembers being clocked by a startled Jack. But as for how he ended up here? A mystery.

Seeing a white jacket hanging on the open door, he quickly grabs it and puts it on, hoping to regain some dignity. Not so. The jacket is only waist length and is too small to even be closed.

"Dammit!" he curses. Seeing no other option, and knowing that he must eventually leave the confines of the room in search of clothes, he takes the jacket off and, tying the arms together around his waste, forms a nice new skirt. Unfortunately it only covers the front, the rear is still exposed, made apparent by the fly that has just landed on it

Needy slaps it, that's the last thing he needs to be dealing with. Unfortunately, it turns out it wasn't a fly, but a wasp. And now his stung bottom was swelling up faster than you can say "Bare Boy Whore"

"Great! Where the hell did that thing come from anyw..?" He stopped halfway, partly because talking to himself was pointless and also because he remembered that TRM liked to keep some insects as pets... or to experiment on... or something. The companion doesn't really pay attention much to what TRM has to say. A shame really, considering the wasp may very well have been a hybrid with a toxic sting, and now he doesnt know what to do about it.

Now he was beginning to fear that he would drop dead then and there, only for the other crewmembers to find him lying buttnaked on the floor. He could picture the epitaph on his gravestone already. "He was born naked, worked naked and died naked"

Feeling the panic begin to take over, he ran out of the infirmary and down the corridors of the ship, his jacket/skirt in tact, but covering nothing

"Heeeeeeeelp!" he screamed

okaaaaaay. Dont really know what a 3-pitch is, or the meanings behing sliding or stealing and their affect on the game (mainly because I've never played baseball or softball and have only seen it played in movies)

Here's the rules for Rounders though - http://www.absoluteastronomy.com/encyclopedia/r/ro/rounders.htm

Turns out Baseball and softball stems from it (not a huge surprise really)

Some of the rules are different in each variant as you can imagine.
The way we play it is with a baseball bat (I picked one up for £1 years ago thinking it would last an hour at best but it's lasted years), though we do have a roudners bat too if anyone wants to use it
We also allow for 3 tries at hitting the ball before you have to run, so even if you hit the ball but are not happy, you can have another shot (though I believe that rule has been added to our game to cater for the children playing)

Ther eare probably other rules too, but there's no need for this to get into a deep "The Rules of Rounders" discussion

Serenity, First Officer of Destiny

A panic-stricken Needy pleads with Serenity.

"I can't find him! Doctor? Where's the Doctor? You need to suck out the poison!!!"

Needy turns around and bends over, pointing his backside at a cringing Serenity

"Please, put it away. I'm not touching that thing, let alone sucking it." Serenity answers honestly. "Can't you get some clothes on and just find the good doctor like a dignified human being would?"

"Clothes?! What clothes? They're gone. If you've got any handy then please, I'd be more than welcome to put them on. But I really need to find the doctor, there's no telling what could happen... I could start growing wings. I could shrink. I could die!"

Needy is sidetracked for a moment upon noticing a colourful and rather elegant-looking scarf Serenity is wearing.

"hm... do you mind if I borrow that?" Needy asks, pointing at the scarf in question. Whether the technicolor scarf had some special powers or not, it sure did seem to calm the previously insane-with-fear companion

"What? My scarf?"

"Yeah. I could take it, and use it for underwear. I'm good with nipping and tucking garments in. I could turn it into a nice pair of pants. For the time being that is"

"Do you have any idea how much this cost me? This is a Serra Original! And I don't even wanna think about where you'd be tucking it!"

Despite Serenity's normally friendly nature, Needy's eyes had already been set on the scarf.
It was begging him to take it from her. Before she could react, he snatched it from her neck and fled down the corridor with it firm in his grasp.
Serenity cringed and looked away. It hurt her that Needy had gone and took her scarf, but she wasn't prepared to go after him and, god forbid, tackle him to the floor for it. There was no telling in what position they would land in, and she would rather lose the scarf than her dignity. Besides, she would have plenty of opportunity to get revenge on him

Ok....ummm...I'll put it over here.

Soul walks over to where Safe laid the holster and straps it across his back. He picks up his boomstick, swings it over his shoulder, and hears a satisfying click as it settles into place. He smiles.

"Now this I like..."

He walks over to the ladder and climbs up to the main hallway, where he watches Needy run into Serenity, wearing...well, wearing too little.

"Needy, I'm thinkin' that Dr. Me should have a look at that sting, and that you need to get ahold of some clothes."

Soul turns and smiles at Serenity.

"Thank you for standing in for me," he says, and in one smooth motion, he pulls his boomstick off of his back, swings it down, pumps the action, and grins.

"The Captain is back."

So where is the doc anyway? We may have heating on the ship to prevent it from getting to cold in space, but I gotta say, when you're naked and walking around the ship - not that warm

Considering I haven't yet collapsed, I don't suppose the sting is as bad as I feared, but still, I'd like it dealt with as quickly as possible

*Soul looks at Needy with a puzzled expression on his face*

"So you woke up and found your clothes gone..." Jack says, "Why on earth are you running around the ship for?

Needy tells him.

"Okay, okay, okay," Jack shakes his head, "Has Safe found you yet?"

"No."

"And don't worry," Jack says, "It was only a space mosquito. Big suckers, pardon the pun, but harmless."

"What am I going to do?"

"I'm thinking clothes," Jack says, "But I'm just spitballing here."

Better reply to the things from the last thread before I start wading through this thread too. Just skip them all to catch up faster? Never!

Serenity, I am so jealous! Your trip sounds SO COOL! I wish I could have been there with you to help you enjoy it :) I am so glad you had that once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to soak up time with fans and stars.

Here's what I'm going to guess the shirt means--My memory may be failing me as I've only read LOTR three times, but I think Legolas and Gimli travel into the West together after they're done travelling for fun all over MiddleEarth. That would mean they live forever though, wait, that didn't answer the question, I'm still at a loss... (BTW, LOTR was in my top three fav books BEFORE that sickening movie came out, thank you very much)

THANK YOU for the gifties! I love the Indian take-out and Kaylee's dress sighting! yum yum, plenty to munch on and think about as I explore the ship's jeffry's tubes :)

Very nice of you to bring us each something! Especially since my work has kept me off the list for some weeks (missed so much!)

Did you all see the shiny new Serenity website yet? I looked at everything, it's so pretty!

Oh, and thank you for calling me "mei mei", Serenity. As the youngest (at 22) crazy sister on this boat, it made me warm and fuzzy inside. The best cure for stress, definitely!

Amylisai, so good to check in

Whew, I made it. All caught up. Watch me get totally behind again in the next few days.

My favorite blonde joke:
Why are all blonde jokes so short and simple?
So the boys can understand them!
:)

The new stuff in the store is exciting, the old things were so far out of my league. It was nice that they added so many for us low-pointers. That being sad, my 84.5 days must've come 'round 'cause I suddenly have points: 3640 rank: 725, much higher than last time I checked. I was sooo impressed by Flechette complaining about being in the 500's and then suddenly I got bumped up. I guess 'cause we have so many newbies and ppl are spending off the points in the store. I'm definitely going for the Serenity patch (I like to put patches on my duffle bag, get 'em when I travel to special places) but I want to wait as long as possible to help out the team's numbers!

Amy finally appears in crew drama...

While climbing up the stair railing (on the outside of the stairs, without a rope), Crazy Sister Amy sees Needy talking to Soul.
The shock of naked Needy causes Amy to let go of the railing--but instead of falling through the air she hovers.

Amy: Cool skills they put in my brain...the academy wasn't all bad
Amy flaps arms and tests flying ability...

Soul: hm, what's with my crew? Jayne in a kilt, a naked companion with a swollen butt, and a floating crazy sister...

Jack: Could be worse. We used ta have psychotic robots

Everyone gives a moment of silence for blasted psychotic robots

Too much fun. Amylisai, Crazy sister of Destiny

THEREALME

Shuttle 2 docks with the Destiny. The hatch pops open and out strolls TheRealMe, whistling to himself, pushing a wheel burrow containing a pile of various mechanical and electronic parts.

“Oh, hello, everyone!”

TheRealMe heads off to the Infirmary, where he parks the wheel burrow. He begins to check his various long-running experiments.

“Dammit! My spmosquito is missing from its container! Now what am I going to use to deliver flesh-shaping recombinant DNA to my victims? Uh, I mean, patients!”

TheRealMe shrugs.

“Oh, well. At least I’m finally getting the hang of this doctor thing!”

Didn't mean to complain about the rank - was just startled really.

I agree w/ Jack looks like the Scavanger hunt points hit - I'm up 1150pt since yesterday

I can now afford a Black t-shirt -- but if we all start buying stuff - what happens to crew ranks?

OTOH seems like it's be a shame to hold onto points and then have nothing to show for 'em, and on a third hand (hey - how'd you think those knives disappeared?)- this is all in fun so if nothing else I've got some great memoeries from this crew and these threads...

Oh CMS- the hat fits great!

Wahoo!! I got points!! I went from 910 to 2255!! And I still have a piece of art to get points for yet and the Reaver challenge too. They should post what each team got in points for the challenge.

Flechette, one might suspect that you, with your deftness with knieves, pocketed them.

I wrote a song! I'll admit I stole a lot of it, but what I stole was so perfect :) Here it is:

This is a song that people on Mal's homeplanet Shadow would sing. The minstrel of the group sings the main parts as Mal, the rest back him up with the chorus. Sung to "I am a Pirate King" from Gilbert and Sullivan's "Pirates of Penzance" (that's why there's so many repeats :)

The Rebel of Serenity

Verse 1
Oh better far to live and die
Out in the black where I can fly
Than play a sanctimonious part
With a captain's head and a browncoat's heart
Away to the cheating worlds go you
Where Alliance all are well to do
But I'll be true to my home country
And live and die
The Rebel of Serenity

Chorus:
Main: For I am Captain Reynolds
Group: He is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Main: And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be Captain Reynolds
Main: For I am Captain Reynolds
Group: He is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Main: And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be Captain Reynolds
Group: It is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Hurrah for Captain Reynolds!

Verse 2
When I sallied forth to save my valley
Zoe helped me in a martial way
I've killed a few more Feds it's true
Than a well-bred Shadow-man ought to do
But the head of the Alliance Academy
Who ruin's girls' brains with impunity
Must manage somehow to get through
More dirty work
Than ever I do

Chorus:
Main: For I am Captain Reynolds
Group: He is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Main: And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be Captain Reynolds
Main: For I am Captain Reynolds
Group: He is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Main: And it is, it is a glorious thing
To be Captain Reynolds
Group: It is! Hurrah for Captain Reynolds
Hurrah for Captain Reynolds!

Well, why don't we discuss the spending of points thing as a group. Some thoughts: I don't want to spend my points yet so that I don't drag down the group, but on the other hand (like Flechette) I'd hate to let the low-points items that I can afford run out before I had something to show for all my devotion. Now, I am still a bit confused about how points are awarded to the group--my best guess is it's all our points combined. Since we only have a handful of people who actually participate, it may be that our points will never amount to those of the lucky early starters who joined years ago and actually have in the tens of thousands. We're not in the top ten now at least. So, can we come to a group decision about how long to wait to buy items? Perhaps if we wait a little while but if you see the item you want running low you're free to just go for it?

*Serenity is enraged that Needy took her scarf. Her new, handbeaded silk scarf that she just bought. That cost her quite a bit of money. (Seriously, I just bought one at D*C. It's gorgeous. Peacocks and flowers and whatnot.) She was going to save it for a special occasion but now the image of Needy streaking down the corridors draped in nothing BUT her scarf has tainted it quite a bit.*

You better get that thing dry cleaned before you give it back to me! And if you ruin it, so help you Buddha and all the Valdar!

Captain! I am so glad you're back. I really don't want to be Captain. And I may be shooting Needy in the near future. He's askin' for it.

Safe-thanks!

Amy-thank you! I'll try to get your hat out later this week.

Flechette-*whew* Glad the hat fits.

I just got back from a weekend at the beach. I'm a little browner and a little blonder than when I left. And much more tired. Oh well, it was much much fun.

And I bought the Serenity novelization AND Visual Companion. Squee!!! (where's dug?)

Now, I must go check my CREDITS over at the UB.

Needy's in peril.

If he doesn't give me my scarf back and get himself some clothes, I'm gonna have to hurt him alot. And not in a nice way. Lots of peril for Needy.

(Can't I have just a little peril? No no, it's too perilous.)

I say spend your credits.

The whole ranking thing really doesn't matter that much, plus you'll earn more. You want a shirt, you buy a shirt. Just work hard to earn the credits back later!
