The road to Hel is paved with good intentions

Imagine my surprise when I saw the official magazine on the shelf in my local comic book store, I didn't think it was to be released till the end of September.

I haven't yet read it, merely flipped through it, but it looks very good indeed. However it is full of spoilers as you can imagine. Some are clearly marked, but there are photos within the mag which in of themselves are spoilers. So if you do buy it before seeing the movie, don't open it until afterwards.

I also got the novel today, but thats a story for another thread

Picked that up Saturday, along with the issue of Starlog with the BDHs on the cover. Good stuff in both.

Ok, this settles it.

I am going magazine/novelisation hunting tonight!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up about the spoilers too... now I just need to find a place to hide the magazine/book until the 31st.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Picked mine up two days ago. Last one on the shelf too.

It is a great mag! I highly recommend it to all.

Well when I heard about it I assumed it would be available in all newsagent but I just looked on Titan Publishing's website and it appears to only being available in the Us/Canada.

However I live in the UK and got this at the comic store (After all, most of the comics there aren't available in newsagents)

I'd say look in a local comic shop, maybe some newsagents will sell it, and if all fails, try ebay. Alternatively, if you can't find a copy, I could buy another issue at the comic store and have it shipped to you - thoguh I don't know how much it would cost - the magazine alone costs £4.99

Anybody care to post the title of the magazine? I know it's the official magazine, but is it called Serenity?

Oops I was actually thinking I wouldn't be able to read it until after the 1st anyway (I'm moving that day) and I think my brain combined the two. At least that's what I keep telling myself .

I rather like the 'time as we know it will stop' thing though...

And I found them (the book, the mag and Starlog)! And then proceeded to walk around Chapters grinning like an idiot!

I'm pretty sure the title was Serenity: the Offical Magazine or something, maybe just Serenity. I'd look but I have everything tucked in a drawer, 'cause my willpower just isn't that great.

There's really only one MAJOR spoiler, and I haven't seen the movie yet, but one of my friends read the Big Spoiler and let it slip, so now that bit's ruined for me.

But for the rest of you, I'd say stay away from the magazine until after you've seen the movie.

Well even though I've only flipped through it, I counted two spoilers. One in text and one picture. Admittedly the picture might not be considered a spoiler until you see its context in the movie, but having viewed the film, I'd say it's definitely one

Thanks for the heads up, both on the magazine and the spoiler content. I picked up a copy today while getting a Ben Hur DVD set for my pop's birthday. I would not have thought to look for the magazine. I tossed it into the cart and told my daughter I couldn't read it until after I saw the movie and she promptly picked it up and told me, "Well, since I'm not seeing the movie and haven't seen the show yet, I can look all I want, can't I." Golly, for an 8 year old she's pretty ruthless!

Oh, got it at Fred Meyer.

aww, 8 year olds can be so cute sometimes. (emphasis on the "sometimes")

There are some pictures of Reavers in there - I hope she wasn't too frightened of them (not that many 8 year olds nowadays are frightened of what they see on tv)

Thanks for your concern, but she really didn't go through it very much. (She would have been pretty freaked out.) She was just giving me a bad time. I just don't know where she get's that personality trait, though my mom would say it's genetic.

I shouldn't have brought the magazine into the house!! It's over there on the shelf whispering to me, "just a peak, just a peak."

LOL. Its funny, I've seen the movie and haven't yet read any of the mag, and there you are not having seen it, tempted to look

To be honest though, I've wanted to look through it, but I have other magazines to read, so I'm reading them first. I want to make it last as long as possible

Have you no self-control?!

LOL

I don't know how you did it. I mean read them both in such a short time. I probably could do it, but as I've mentioned before, I like to make it last. Then again there are other extremes where I read chapters of a book months apart

No, I have no idea. The website seems to imply that they'll only be made for the US/Canada. But I've got mine here in the UK, so I would encourage you to go to comic shops - they tend to import comics and mags from abroad.
If not, maybe you could place an order in with a newsagents. I'm not sure if they would do that, but if I you can't find them anywhere else, it's worth a try. If not, try ebay.

I think I might buy some more copies if there's any left, so that they can be sent to fans like yourself that can't get them. Still, I'm sure they won't have a large amount left in the shop I bought mine from.

Okay all. I've found some copies of the Official Magazine on ebay. They're for BUY IT NOW, so you don't have to worry about the price increasing

Here you can buy the mag for $10 (rrp I believe), with postage worldwide being an additional $5, here:

Alternatively, if you want both the standard magazine, and the one with the preview exclusive cover, you can buy both for $20, not including postage and packing here:

Can someone who has seen the movie and perused the magazine tell us what pages the MAJOR spoilers would be on and we can avoid those specific pages?

I'm just jonesing for a Serenity fix to get me through the next two weeks!!

Ummm...pretty much something on everypage from [deleted for your protection] descriptions on page 3 to pictures of [deleted by authorized sources] on page 23 to [access denied] on page 16 with the [mandatory deletion] to [deleted for your protection].

Same goes for the Official Visual Companion, and the Novelization.

But if you need a fix, get the comics, buy the action figures, download BWAH! and play it, go to the UB and do the challenges, or partake in what may (or may not) be the final week of Caption Tightpants! (and there is the Other Shiny Caption Game too!)

Lots to do that aren't spoilers!
