Spoke with the theatre owner this morning.

The film is bought.

The venue is Mission Valley.

The commitment has been made for a "sit down" very soon to bang out times for the "premiere events" such as costume contests, etc.

Things to bear in mind...

"Mission Valley" is probably NOT the only theatre in the greater Raleigh area that will show "Serenity", so Raleigh/Carolina Browncoats. . .let's make sure Mission Valley IS the theatre people go to if they wanna SEE it.

The show we pick for the premiere event will NOT be the FIRST showing of the day, but we need to make sure it's the event that EVERYONE wants to be at!

Are ya with me???

Actually, I was gonna aim for an 8 PM show . . .that way the festivities can start betweeen 6:30 and 7:00. Folks have time for dinner and to change, etc. etc. etc. etc. . . .and that also gives us the additional 'audience' of folks who will be arriving for other films.

"Hey . . .what are you guys dressed up for?"

"Serenity. What. . .you've not heard of it?"

(Embarrased look) Um. . . no. . .I guess not.

(rolls eyes)*sigh* Oh, well, fine. . .I have an extra ticket. Forget "Transporter 2" for the third time or that crap Jodie Foster flick and get in line. But don't let this happen again!"

A 7:30 or 8pm sounds great to me - lets people from nearby cities attend w/out having to take the day off

So how are tickets going to work? getting them that is...

Umm Static I know I'm a pain about this - but Renfair info?

thanks!

I will be in Raleigh that day, and so will lots of others . . .I'm sure we can get the tix earlier that day, or maybe I can buy some tix or passes in advance from the theatre owner, and then folks arriving later can reimburse...re-imburse...

folks arriving later can pay us back for them.

Also. . .what renfair info did you need specifically again? Curse my ADHD!

Once upon a time you were going to see about discount tickets for the Charlotte renfaire for those of us attend the BDMPP- any chance at something like that? Or if you can get your hands on the opening weekend discount coupons and bring those?

Ah yes!!!

I can get my hands on a bunch of the "$1 Off" coupons easy.

The complimentary tickets, it turns out, are going to be a bit more of a challenge, methinks. Seems the management is planning major expansion over the next couple of years and are gettin' pretty tight with the ol' purse strings. . .but I'll see what I can scrape together.

Static - I believe opening weekend has a 2 for $20 coupon or a buy one get one free - or something (the faire has in the past anyway) ((I haven't gotten a clear response via email yet))

Could you see if you could grab a bunch of those - or find out if they will be available?

When is everyone arriving for the weekend?

I will be coming Thursday night, sometime around 8-9.

If there are enough people around that night, we could have some shindiggery.

Flechette-any word on the Renn Faire yet?

There should be enough of us for some shindiggery on Thursday. needleseye, cozen, TRM, mai and I are all flying in Thursday afternoon/evening. Those are just the ones that I know about. And I think your brother was coming on Thursday too.

I'm definitely up for shindiggery Thursday night as well. If it's only gonna be a few folks we can do something at my place (my condo is really small though), or we can hit a local bar.

Ash and Static, thanks again for all your hard work putting this together. Have you guys met yet to work out the final details? I'd love to help out any way I can since I'm local. If you haven't met up to iron things out, let me know if/when you decide on a time/place.

Not by much!! I could probably handle 10 reasonably comfortably, 15 max.

There is some talk on the ncfirefly yahoo group about having a firefly marathon for the Thursday arrivals. I think it's a shiny idea myself.

I did call the Ren faire people today and the receptionist said that the opening weekend coupons should be at Dunkin Donuts, Jersey Mike's, Harris Teeters, and Autobells, - even as far away as Raleigh.

She had no idea about when the ads in the papers would run.

There is also a brochure online : http://www.royalfaires.com/carolina/Default.asp?Page=73 which she was 90% sure would be acceptable - perhaps Static could verify?

I can easily print off a bunch but would hate to get there and be told "No Go"!

It looks like we're going to have 15 easy.

I would definitely be up for a marathon (though I'll probably miss most of it, being a later arrival). We'd just need to figure out where we can do it. If it's at the hotel, we'd need someone with one of those laptops you can hook up to tvs. If it's at someone's house, who's got a big enough place and is willing to cram that many people into their living room?

Oooh-idea! If we did it at the hotel, we could have different eps going on in different rooms and people could room-hop. Wouldn't that be fun? Like a progressive dinner, but with Firefly.

Flechette-good job girl! Now, who can stop by a Dunkin' Donuts and grab handfuls of coupons for us?

Don't quote me on this, but I think Ash mentioned something about the hotal saying we could use the meeting room there for..well...meetings, and such. I'm sure the marathon would fit in the "and such" category. I also like the room-hopping idea. I don't know if my laptop will hook up to a tv or not. It's a tad old, but it will play dvd's.

Oooh, meeting room. That's great! I bet we can sweet talk them into it.

Where's Ash to confirm/deny rumours when we need her? I think I'll post the question about the meeting room to her on ncfirefly.

My laptop is supposed to be able to hook up to a TV, but I've never tried it. We have 2 DVD players in the house, why bother?

The coupons on the brochure that can be downloaded from the web are acceptable - so I'll likely print a bunch off and bring em with me

Any idea how many will be needed?

Yes we can use the meeting and dining rooms. We just have to be nice little browncoats and not scare the other guests away.

I'm headed to Harris Teeter this evening so I'll check and see if they have any discount coupons. If so, I'll snag some extras. I'll also check my laptop to see if it will work with a TV.

If we do end up using the meeting room, we should make a sign letting the other guests know what's going on and that they are welcome to come in and watch if they wish. Just a thought...

Okay I went to the movie theater in order to buy 50 tickets today. I got there and was told I would have to get in touch with the owner and he would set that up. So I guess that is what I will be working on tomorrow. Yeah!

I also paid a visit to the Best Western hotel. It is official, after breakfast is served in the morning the meeting room and dining hall will be shut off for everyone but us! The meeting room has a projector screen so we will definitely be able to use the computer projector for the dvd's. There are maybe 12 tables with 2-3 chairs at each one. The dining room has a TV with cable and several round tables with chairs. You can look out to the pool from there. So there will be plenty of room! If we have to we could have both rooms showing dvd's.

Now the activities at the hotel are not just for the people staying there. Local browncoats are welcome to join in! Please!

For the people renting rooms, breakfast is served between 6:30am and 9am and the pool is open from 9am to 9pm. So let the fun begin!
