Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the best science fiction movie since Blade Runner.
It was a work of art and love, and we owe you.
Period.

Amen, brother!

Second viewing for me was even better than the first.

Wow, from the title I was expecting another hate-fueled rant! This made for a nice change..

I agree 100%. Fantastic film.

Of course it was great. It was the BDM. Were we expecting anything LESS than great?

(Spoilers are coming. Gee, what a shocker.)

True, it was a punch in the gut when Wash and Book died, but you know, I kind of knew in my heart that SOMEONE was due for expiration. It made me sad, it made me bawl through the rest of the film and quite a while afterwards, but I've come to terms with the fact that they're dead, and everyone should work on doing the same.

But it was a fantastic story nonetheless. Fantastic plot. Never saw it coming with the origin of the Reavers, loved the River fight scenes, and just the fact that our cast and our ship was on the big screen was heartwarming.

The only thing that was kind of 'eh' was... where was the humor? I know, don't get Reaver on me, I know there was some funny things ("Oh God, oh God, we're all gonna die?" "We may experience some turbulence and then... explode." "Am I talking to Miranda now? -River makes a face- No? Okay."), but it just wasn't the same. I'm probably being nitpicky and odd, but that's just how I felt.

Ranting over now. Thank you for your time.

You Can't Stop the Signal.

Anna,

Don't forget the running Jayne grenade gag. Or, "I swallowed a bug." Or the visual gag of screwdriver versus sword. Or Kaylee's battery operated line, or her "I want to live" line. In fact, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a scene in the film where humor wasn't injected.

But it was also much more dramatic and intense than the series, with much more going on, which maybe made you miss some of the jokes.

HIIRO

Wash's death actually distracted me a bit through the rest of the film. I had a hard time focusing on what was happening cause I kept repeating that scene in my head. Still, amazing film. I hope the guys at Fox are beating each other over their heads for cancelling Firefly. Easily the best gorram series the genre has had in a looong while. Sorry about Zoe not having a child though, she really wanted one. Guess we'll have to wait for the sequels, which I've already heard Joss talk about. Shiny...

Same with me, hiiro. And I've BEEN reliving it ever since I saw it. It's dreadful, but it happened, and it is very sad, but it happened.

Anthony: Okay, I get it. I was just giving a few that sprung to the forefront of my mind. I wasn't trying to name all the funnies in the show. The point IS, the film was much more action/violence than the series was. And while it was all wonderful, the point I was trying to convey was that it had a different feel than Firefly had. No harm meant in the statement, you have to understand.

I loved it, too. I even got my parents to see it, and they liked it (high praise from them). General consensus among my entire crowd of friends is that it kicked ass. None of us were die-hard fans (no fan sites) but we all promoted it. My roomie and I got no less than 15 other people into it just through lending them tapes and DVD's. Now most of them have the DVD's, too, and they all loved the movie.

Spoiler

Yes, the deaths were mourned across the board, but we've all accepted that they were necessary. Not at first--there were a couple of days of 'man, that was good, but WHY?! I don't know if I love it or hate it.'
Of course, the love won out. ;)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

For a second there I thought it was going to be another hate filled rant. Thanks for surprising me Chrisisall.

Saw it again last night w/ a couple of friends and honestly can't wait to see it again this week.

Keep taking friends & family to see it browncoats. We got a ways to go yet.

I know... It distracted me from the rest of the movie because of it.

When Kaylee got hit with those two darts, I realized anything could go at that point. I was ready to faint, it felt, I was that tense.

Chrisisall, who's gonna bring Mr. Hanky for subsequent viewings
